Hi 1990 4door 316i carpet in n/s rear footwell sodden any ideas as to where water coming in,rest of carpets dry.floor pan solid.thanks

If the car has a sunroof my favourite would be:

Blocked sunroof drains.

Or could be:

Rust hole(s) at the bottom of the rear wheel arch.
I'm not completely perfect.......there are some bits missing or broken.
But the weather here helps!!!

Each side of an E30 floorpan has a 90mm round hole in it directly under each front seat. These holes are blocked by metal plates with three lugs on them which twist lock into the holes.
The plates come loose, usually because one of the lugs rusts off, and you get water in the rear footwells.

yeah i got that accept my floor isnt wet as such just damn sticky! might have to rip carpet up

Probably can get new plates from the dealer and seal them in, but I haven't checked the ETK.
If I'm having a welding session on an E30, I just weld plates over the holes.
