what engine mod's can i carry out on my 318IS? I know i can go for the Zone chip and bbtb? is there anything else i can do to up my BHP?

Not a lot for little money. BMW got it mostly right in the first place.
IIRC, the standard cams can be retimed to give more peak power.

Think cam profile isnt far away from the m3 cams! and dont know too much about the m42 engines learning a lil every day with the help of you lads here and our own irish site E30owners.com :D

the M42 will respond well to more advance on the inlet cam, from 100 to 106 degrees, be V careful with tweaking though, and of course, turn the engine over by hand to double check before throwing the key, I should add though, that the tweak is well known, aqnd may have already been doen, so check the current timing before making any changes

I was under the impression from what ive read on here that changing the cam timing can give you a bit at the top but you lose some torque lower down the revs.........or is that jut me? :?

Probably so, you don't get something for nothing - and BMW designers do know what they're doing.

Agreed, all you can gain from tuning a peaky engine, is a peakier one dude
