Let's get one thing clear

Paint does not and should not be attacked with a machine polisher on a regular basis. So, to buy this and then waste money on polishes and pads to then have no use for it is pointless

If you are really set on getting one, then look at the Kestral DAS 6

So how often should something like this be used? I usually polish, wax etc. once every couple of months.

Depends on how much lacquer you have lol

If you're looking to polish our swirls and light scratches you can probably correct 2/3 times safely before you are going to burn through the lacquer, but the chances of doing that with a DA is slim

I use a rotary and for example I've only done my touring once in 2 years. I just maintain it now. I've polished my day just once by had and then re waxed since I machined polished it. Still looks good (if I can be fucked to wash it)

If you think it will be easier to just polish your car with a normal polish like SRP and a finish pad with no cut, you'll find it's still easier and quicker to do it by hand.

I know several people who have bought DA's and have used them once, said "fuck that" and they've been sitting on a shelf collecting dust there after

I've got a DAS 6 and it is good.

I still think it's worth having one in the garage for the sake of £100 quid.
. If you change cars every couple of years, it's nice to give the new wagon a good going over when you buy it.

Ive got a G220. Its slow. Get a rotary and watch a lot of tutorials.

Bob on! Quite aggresive paint correction is a one off treatment if you get it right. As said, more than a couple of deep polishes and you'll begin to burn the paint. Your money's better spent on paying a pro to do it then getting into a good cleaning / waxing routine to maintain the finish.

He is right. I bought a rotary, used it once (did a good job mind you) now its been collecting dust for a couple of years.

He is right. I bought a rotary, used it once (did a good job mind you) now its been collecting dust for a couple of years.

Scrap that, I used it twice. Once on my car and once on my sisters when she used a scouring pad to remove tar spots, silly girl!

The best results come from a rotary polisher, the safer option is a DA and as above, if you only need to get rid of light swirls then a DA will do the trick. You will need to get your pad and polish combo correct to do a proper job. The trick is then to maintain the finish. Wash with a 2 bucket method and wax as often as you can.

The cheapest alternative to getting rid of light swirl marks is to use a filler wax.

All of the above is so true. The touring has been mopped several times in the past as it changed hands, the red is/was so thin it was getting translucent on the edges and the primer was tinting the red as you could see through it.

Too many moppings/machine polishings is why it is now just covered in base coat awaiting the better summer weather to finish a repaint.
