hiya, only brought my new e30 about 2 months ago, and now have noticed, water collecting the battery tray, and also in the footwells carpets am soaked, is this a common problem, i have the 1.8 4door with sunroof, so maybe thinking this could be a cause with drainage, not sure.... can anyone help? thanks

If you've got wet footwells, might be good to have a read through this in the wiki pages too..

Wet foot wells could mean perhaps a hole/rust issue with the bulk head area, or the front wheel arches are holed and water is coming up as your driving along. the sunroof drains to the rear/boot of the car so don’t think that would be the cause of the problem.

Right sorted problem I hope, after stripping interior it was the footwell bungs, they come out of place so put back in sealed, but drivers side jacking point was slighty cracked so welded. So all is dry again now . Thank you for the suggestions guys :)
