My northern scotch car has the beginnings of this too. Also on the side where the bung was missing, mine is saveable though. I may tidy it up in the summer if it's not too late.

Same thing will happen to E46's in time to come.

Countless BMW's pass through work with the jacking block/bung missing. I always report them on the health checks.

+1..

Newer cars are slightly worse off, the jacking blocks just push and clip in. Not the best IMO

That fooker had been in the sea, no doubt about it!

Until the bods at BMW sit the ignorant customer down and explain to them that unless they have the lower plastic trims/arch liners removed and the body cleaned/protected the cars will continue to degrade and eventually fall apart.
But I suspect there is a very good reason they dont do that :)

I nearly fell over when i was asked to wire brush and wax oil some brake and fuel lines on an E34 at work!

Still, the owner has dropped 6k on it in the last year!

He's coming back for another bags worth in the new year!

Don't worry Alex, P40 doesn't rust, so Topless tells me :)

This is now a fairly common occurence with E36s . As with E30s and E34s, the cars with sideskirts are usually the worst affected.
Trolley jack wielding beasts attacking sills with MIA jacking bungs are responsible for lots of the ensuing rust and carnage,

I keep meaning to have a prod under mine. The rear arches are a mess, but everything else looks pretty solid. With all these horror stories I'm going to have to take the skirts off at some point for a proper investigation
cheers,

harry
