That is awesome
Two headblenders, couple of bags of MC Hammer, 5 litres of FFF, a 48ft bastard, a box of jumped-up custard and some soggy chimps

thanks guys, i hope it runs ok, not 100% confident the profile gasket has a good seal...
Thats a very good effort! Looks brand new
I'd be sorting out the profile gasket if you are not 100% happy - you'd kick yourself if you put it in and it leaked.

yer, i was thinking exactly the same mate but needed to be told to just do it!!!! you know what its like....
How many miles has it done?
If its quite a low mileage one, chances are that the profile gasket hasn't been changed for the stronger type. See its got the metal oil filter housing, likely to be an older engine though.

if its still out of the car just check this gasket before you put it back in.

Cheers TPS, got an IS in my sisters garage, its got some rot that I hope to fix then going to pull the lump out for an overhaul. Always temped to frag it and forget it but this tread has held be back a bit..TPS wrote:Its had new gaskets/seals/hoses, cleaned injectors, the inlet & cam cover has been sprayed, new Water pump/'stat, fresh oil & plugs, loads of parts & attention have been showered on this.G-Bear wrote:That M42 looks fantastic.. I used to have a m42 in my touring, not a bad combo I thought. Engine looks spotless!

Looks tidy dude. Do I spy the obligatory zip-tie holding the coil packs on? Lol
Was it worth doing over the M40?
Another quick question as you've fitted this to a '94 car, what have you done for the exhaust? Are you running a cat or is it ok for emissions without?
Cheers

VERY VERY NICE
I used to have a 94 touring with an IS engine, MOT regs are that its tested on the oldest part of the car.jmc330i wrote:Looks tidy dude. Do I spy the obligatory zip-tie holding the coil packs on? Lol

My engine was out of a 1990 car, went along to MOT with a letter from a garage stating that a 1990 engine was fitted, passed MOT without a cat.
Yup, same as my S50 conversion, obviously the car was older than engine.mr_dink wrote:I used to have a 94 touring with an IS engine, MOT regs are that its tested on the oldest part of the car.jmc330i wrote:Looks tidy dude. Do I spy the obligatory zip-tie holding the coil packs on? Lol

Sorry, I was getting confused, I thought tps was using a newer M42. Mine is actually an M44 and the touring is a 93, so I may have issues without a cat.
