That must be fecked.
When I jack mine up, I can open the doors no probs, one thing I know is that my cab shell is solid, very minimal rust, and thats surface rust.
And I'm sure that Kingcruizer is running Big BHP through his Cab.

it doesnt look too bad in the pics, but when it was fragged/smashed up rolled on roof etc the rot was unbelivable. i could put a screwdriver through various parts of the floor, it had rusty scuttle (on a pre facelift 8O ) rusty front valance, rust bubbles on roof, sunroof tray had rotten away at the front, bulkhead rot, arches were rusty, from the rear arch going to the front door i managed to knock enought rusty out to stick my hand inside the car, rotten around towing eye, rot as you opened the door starting in door shuts, inner arches wernt bad but not the best. there was no single panel that didnt need welding, most suspension would have been fecked too, rot behind the grills under windscreen pissing water in, Water came from every corner of the car

All e30 shells flex, even the rot free ones as they are not a very riggid design.

Putting serious torque through a standard cabrio shell will flex it to the point of slowly opening up the seam sealer which will let moisture in which will cause rot.

That is just the begining of the problem as serious torque will twist the shell and start to throw alignment out.

Even a standard saloon shell with 400lbft+ will end up with stress fractures. A roll cage and seam welding will prevent this.

Common weak points are front strut turrets and diff mount

There are not many cars out there that do not flex, even my chromie flexes slightly when on the 2 post lift and that is 100% rust free

On Alpina E30's, the front turret seams were prone to cracking due to the stiffness of the suspension.

Dont muscle cars crack in the bulkhead/inner wing area because of the torque.

Got a new cabby (sneak pic to the left winkeye ) so that's taking up most of my time now, got to rebuild it back up from scratch otherwise the engine would be in by now :(

I'm hoping a month or 2 before it's all finished, Santa Pod is the deadline :D
