540 calipers and 312mm TT disks, its fooking tight! 2mm max between the caliper and wheel, but the gap will get bigger as the pad wears which is good.
Im just rubbing the zinc off at the moment and getting them bedded in nice, needs my 750 master cylinder fitted to bring the pedal up but will get the rears on first.
Its seems to have taken ages to get this far, I ended up having the calipers sand blasted and zinc plated before fitting new seals etc
Disks have also been zinc plated to keep the rust at bay

Fooking hell mate no wonder it's tight!
Measure behind your spokes for me please. I may need my WMS's spaced out as the rules state.

No I sold those to Bob as I changed my mind and bought the 4 pots, but since fitting the 16 inch Hartges I needed bigger brakes to fill the gap as per the CR24V rule book statestown325i wrote:Are those the TT discs you had in the footwell of your 4 door when you took me out in that the other year
They are the same though, only bad thing is these weigh at least twice as much as the WMS setup, but for a road car its not a big issue

So did you swap the WMS stuff onto another (track?) car? You know I can upgrade the 280mm kits to 300mm if people want (that's the idea of the modular stuff!)?DanThe wrote:They are the same though, only bad thing is these weigh at least twice as much as the WMS setup, but for a road car its not a big issue
Here's the WMS 298.5x24 template behind Bob_S's 16" Hartge's, he reckons a 3mm spacer is needed, to be confirmed!Dezzy wrote:Measure behind your spokes for me please. I may need my WMS's spaced out as the rules state.

Yep the 4 pots are now on the track slag, no need to go any bigger for that as tyres/wheels are better priced in 15 inch
I would have gone for some 4 pots again if I thought I needed the extra performance, but for a road car these single piston jobbies should be fine

This is how I left the car tonight, (click for bigger pic)

Been out for a quick test run, about 6 miles, feels like its got a missfire at certain revs but its not using the right ECU at the moment, got it running on a late 328i ecu while I sort out the S52 brain.
Throttle needs adjusting as its not opening fully and it needs some fresh go-go juice so will see whats what tomorrow after a visit to mr Shell and some diagnostics
The E46 6 speed box ive bodged on the back is working well, the gear ratios are as expected and feel like the ratios I was told from ZF Transmissions, gear change is a bit notchy so will get some thinner oil to go in, should be MTF LT2 but not at that price!
70mph is just under 2500rpm
Got more pics on my puter, will get them sorted when it decides to turn on
