I have some early m20 2.5 pistons.
How would I go about making them lighter ?
could I have the skirts removed.

hell yeah,
cut the skirts back on the lathe/mill/whatever so they are just under the line on the inside of the skirts Ed, make sure and take the same amount of each, then weigh them so its a matched set 100%
on high CR slugs its possible to remove almost a third of the stock weight without any detrimental issues.
