Cheers Brian, my spare sensor is reading 780ish ohms at cold.
The big c101, is that the one under the steering column cowling?
Cheers

As Andy335 says, the C101 is the big round one on the bulhead, next to the fusebox, where the engine loom plugs into the body loom.
Run the engine up to temp, and measure the sensor resistance then.
780 ohms sounds about right cold.

as Brian says don't go shorting anything but the correct pin to ground, they are marked with tiny numbers moulded into the black plug plastic but it's not always immediately obvious which number corresponds to which pin.

if you short the the coil feed to ground you'll get some pretty sparks!

i'd guess maybe the fault is in the instrument cluster, the temp and fuel gauges are separate modules which sit on the main board if i remember correctly so possible to get a bad contact. seems to me you'd have to do something pretty brutal to the loom to completely break a wire in it!

Right, as I said Toby there is a ferrets nest of wires underneath the inlet all done up with bullets. I have shorted pin 4 and the Temp gauge went to max hot so I have a dodgy connection. Off out to investigate now I can see!

And there was me assuming brkem water pump
Saved by the Guru again
Maybe I should rename my car Brian in your honour

Found it, and fixed it!!
One of the wires had corroded where it goes in tho the bullet connector and dropped off. Fixed it, but when I next have the inlet manifold off I'll have to solder and heat shrink them all, there wase barely enough room to crimp them. There was another loose wire that looked like it had come undone it was yellow and brown and in the same bunch as the temp sensor wire. Any ideas Brian?

Thanks for all the help guys really appreciate it :thumb:

Don't think so, I've just had a look.

Do you have a 2.5 chip?

in another thread I wrote:Craig, just had a though in the car taking my books back to the library.
You may have already got this covered. But when converting a 320 ---> 325 all you need to change is the ECU chip to tell the fuel injection that it's a 2.5 otherwise it'll be underfuelling. Do you have a 2.5 chip? If not I have the old one from my car at home from before I chipped it which would work, I'll bring it up when I come back on thursday incase you need it.
