Cheers guys.

Gazza its amazing you think you've got a nice clean solid car until you look closer and start removing body panels that hide all the bad stuff. Then you start to think i wish i hadn't started this

Great project, looks fairly solid in all, and good to catch the rust early. Looks like you need to replace your solid fuel lines also :thumb:

Yeah mate, but I'm feeling the worst with regards to the scuttle. looks a nightmare to sort. Any ideas on how to move the dash forward so I can put a fire blanket down the front of it

Only way to move it forward is to remove the 8 (iirc) bolts. Once you undone these you may as well remove the whole dash. Its a fiddly job but not hard. I think to sort that scuttle I would want to be removing the dash, also to get a look behind it.

Great work!

at the moment its hard to get working on it I've got a french turd in my drive in need of a cylinder head so once i get that away ill be starting to strip the interior out checking the shell right over to make sure its as good as i it looks (compared to my black sport it looks fairly solid.. )
i know its needing work done on the drivers rear arch which might turn into a qtr not sure yet.. ill be planning on doing it diamondswartch metallic like my old one ( its lachs silver at the moment ) using the drive train and everything of my old one and more or less having it back to standard bar the alloys and suspension. will be a few other mods nothing major ill lose the pas in favour of a manual rack have the scorpion and through time get a 6 branch

Hi guys,

Well since chirstmas things have stalled somewhat. Although the painter is coming to see it tomorrow and start blocking the body in readiness for painting. Then the scuttle will be getting done and there after the paint will go on.

Hoping if everything goes to plan then to have it ready for end of Feb start of March

This is one of my favorite threads on here. What sort of money are you talking though. Looks like you're doing the welding yourself?

No my niece's man is a welder and he is doing it for me.

Currently becuase I have been doing most of the stripping myself, it's not too much but I have been buy parts for the car for the last year.

I have put 2 new wings, door and bonnet on.

I think I'm looking at £2000 when all is finished

TBH, I dont consider that to be horrendous at all. 8)

Keep us updated. Makes me want to go outside and rip the interior out of my car. There's bound to be some rot in their somewhere hidden. :?

Thats the problem mate, you think you have a nice clean car until you start taking things out and then you find out what problems you really have.

£2000 is not that much compared to what others are doing like acid dips etc.

And here is some more pics of the body being sanded with 400

The next stage is to have the scuttle panel repaired/replaced and then its off to the paint booth.
