Me neither mate not coming quick enough
Cheers guys.
Gazza its amazing you think you've got a nice clean solid car until you look closer and start removing body panels that hide all the bad stuff. Then you start to think i wish i hadn't started this

Great project, looks fairly solid in all, and good to catch the rust early. Looks like you need to replace your solid fuel lines also

The windows came out this evening without too much of a problem, but as you can see the scuttle is shagged

Yeah mate, but I'm feeling the worst with regards to the scuttle. looks a nightmare to sort. Any ideas on how to move the dash forward so I can put a fire blanket down the front of it

Only way to move it forward is to remove the 8 (iirc) bolts. Once you undone these you may as well remove the whole dash. Its a fiddly job but not hard. I think to sort that scuttle I would want to be removing the dash, also to get a look behind it.gary wrote:Yeah mate, but I'm feeling the worst with regards to the scuttle. looks a nightmare to sort. getting there with it gary. im just about to start on the new shell thats how bad its got with mine i gave up with the black sport shell and got a silver shell its still booked as a sport though so im chuffed on that. still a tec1 aswell so its all plus. the new shell looks a lot better will need either a drivers rear qtr or major repair work. either way its still better than the old one. will be getting pics up soon just need to get a clio out my drive first so i can start a bit of work on it
Gra325i....What you doing to your mate. Mines is still in bits too mate. Now that Christmas and new year is all over with hoping to have it all finished for Feb, or at least prerp'd for painting by the end of this month.

at the moment its hard to get working on it I've got a french turd in my drive in need of a cylinder head so once i get that away ill be starting to strip the interior out checking the shell right over to make sure its as good as i it looks (compared to my black sport it looks fairly solid.. )gary wrote: jbh....You'll need to get some pic's up mate, what are your plans with it?
i know its needing work done on the drivers rear arch which might turn into a qtr not sure yet.. ill be planning on doing it diamondswartch metallic like my old one ( its lachs silver at the moment ) using the drive train and everything of my old one and more or less having it back to standard bar the alloys and suspension. will be a few other mods nothing major ill lose the pas in favour of a manual rack have the scorpion and through time get a 6 branch
Gra get some pics up mate and getting working on it ya lazy git
If its a race you want then i think I'll need a paddle as I have no windows and its pissing down outside
jbh....sounds like you know what your after, but why are you scrapping PAS, will this not be a pain in the arse with heavy steering around town?

i had the manual rack on my old tec1 which tbh i preffered the fell of it and even around town it never really bothered me i could still put it into spaces where my mate couldnt put his e36

Hi guys,
Well since chirstmas things have stalled somewhat. Although the painter is coming to see it tomorrow and start blocking the body in readiness for painting. Then the scuttle will be getting done and there after the paint will go on.
Hoping if everything goes to plan then to have it ready for end of Feb start of March

No my niece's man is a welder and he is doing it for me.
Currently becuase I have been doing most of the stripping myself, it's not too much but I have been buy parts for the car for the last year.
I have put 2 new wings, door and bonnet on.
I think I'm looking at £2000 when all is finished

Thats the problem mate, you think you have a nice clean car until you start taking things out and then you find out what problems you really have.
£2000 is not that much compared to what others are doing like acid dips etc.

Well here are some pics of the car being blocked with 150 grit paper on the repairs

And here is some more pics of the body being sanded with 400

The next stage is to have the scuttle panel repaired/replaced and then its off to the paint booth.
