Any I the only person on this forum who thinks it is pure and utter madness to pay cash for a 325i sport that would buy you a clean, low mileage E36 M3/ M3 evo? 8O

I love E30's but when you start talking over £5000 I think you dont get the same'bang for buck' that you could get from other cars.

I think your missing the point! Why would I pay £10k for a Mk1 escort when I could have a faster Mk5 escort for £500!?!?

lol, touche.
I just want to know if everyone had £5k to spend and seen a decent sport for sale would they all jump at it or stand back, have a think and possibly think of another possibility for their 5000 hard earned pounds.

Your looking for a good sport I take it, if your down south there is a 2.7l auto sport for sale, it has an excellant istory was owned by a late zoner who really looked after it, and its going for £2.5k factor in a box change (if you want manual) and your looking at £3k-£3.5k for a very very good sport.

I am waiting for time off and my crimbo bonus before I go take a look, I know its a good un though.

But I wouldn't pay 5k for a sport, unless ALL and I mean all the problem areas had been sorted before I bought (rear arches, scuttle, respray done ect...), Normally I would expect to pay £2.5-£4k depending upon work recently done and quality and originality. I bought my sport 2 years ago, she has since spent winters on holiday on my drive, I paid £2.5k then and its not a minter by any means, but this is mainly due to the last 2 years wear and tear taking hold faster than I can fix her up.

£5k on an E36 M3 evo is a good price, but how many of them are there?

Also, the E36 value is still on its way down, E30's are on thier way up, especially the sport versions.

Personally, I think I would seriously look at the E36.. Dakar yellow coupe with lowish miles and a good Vanos, would have to have black leather/alcantera and have the smaller air bag sterring wheel. I havn't seen a nice tidy E36 M3 in I don't know how long too. :(
E30 M3 Unichip Alpha N style conversions, this is the ultimate for extracting the best out of your S14 M power car.
Also, Live mapping of your Standard Motronic ECU for optimising all your modifications.

Good E30's have, in the course if this last year, started commanding higher prices that the direct E36 equivalent - pretty much across the board.

Not an absolute rule, but you get the idea.

I agree Chris, gone are the days of ticketed £300 325's. :(

e36 318is' are worth fack all with 160K on, but a nice high mileage e30 'IS' is worth £2000.

They are becoming relatively rare in good original condition so prices will only rise as time goes on.

Simon13 here - people sell them at the market values. They've always sold for more than any other 325

MAybe we are mad, but suppl and demand dictates we are obviousl in good company and have great taste, if values are anything to go by.

Alpine, Hartge and AC aside (which fetch their own premiums), the sport was the highest spec best E30 you could buy that was RHD <---- thats the key bit. I thought about an M3 cab but i just dont like LHD and the majority agree with me, therefore Motorsport cab it was. I paid over 5k for mine and its still the best I have seen on here or elsewhere so I feel it was a fair price when i have seen some right dogs get 2.5 - 4k.

i saw today on autotrader.co.uk an impreza for £2600 with all the bells and whitsles looked the bollocks for what it is mind but id have an e30 anyday of the week. sports are only gonna get rarer and more desirable as time goes on which sadly happens to all things but in fairness the e30 is more appreciated and has a big enough following to see them around for years to come in my oppinion i'd like to get a mint sport now before prices really go crazy even though im in the middle of building something special im still want that originality. a sport mite not be as quick as modern machinery nor as advanced or handle as well or as economical but they have feeling and personality and history. your driving automotive history which is why eventually i'll get round to owning nearly every model of e30 before i die. cos they just are so dam good. i watched a fifth gear once and they had the lancia delta inter v's the e30 m3 and neither of them were as quick round the track as a brand new FORD(Fix Or Repair Daily) "sports" KA but what would you rather own umm????? tough one

There was a Macau motorsport convertible on here with 54k which sold for about 9k.

Due to their desirability and rarity they will always have a value and prices are only going to go up for the decent ones that are left, but given the choice I'll take a standard 325i and the extra cash in my pocket.

Anyone who believes an E30 325i is a better car then an E36 M3 EVO needs to have a serious word with them self I think!
