you can get about 10hp out of it by fitting a zone wild chip from ant on this forum (chips@e30zone.co.uk) for Ԛ£55
and if you fit a Big Bore Throttle Body and a K&N panel filter you should have a useful 145ish BHP
you can get the BBTB from the zone too Ԛ£120 exchange if i remeber correctly

If you're old enough for the insurance to be "favourable".....get a 2.5
And then do the mods 320Touring suggests...

dude, dont! 2.5 conversion is laaameZayyan wrote:If you're old enough for the insurance to be "favourable".....get a 2.5
the mods i've mentioned are really 'bolt on' so you can try them and change them if you dont like them...
the 2.5 conversion is a great way of getting 40bhp more, but its a 'touch' more involved..

I assume the 2.5 into 2.0 litre doesn't involve changing anything else other than obviously inlet... if not then its fairly easy, providing you got a crane etc, I've never worked on BMW before I got mine, and me and two mates fitted new engine in a day!

My mate has a 320, and I've got a spare 325 tb, is it worth putting on his, bearing in mind I'll give it to him free of charge!
Thanks

yeh it really is simple to upgrade to 2.5..... dont waste ure time and money modding ure 320.....for a few bhp
2 ppl can do it in a day easily.2 days no problem
only thing is u need to change the prop as they are different and just whack all the 2.5 stuff in with 2.5 loom and plug and play!

Sell the car and buy a 325i............easiest option unless your shell is immaculate.
Changing an engine is not hard. If you have your own garage then its very very easy.
Ive done two now and as long as your organiased its not difficult.

what power do you get from a pretty standard 2.7 conversion? I always look at the 2.7 conversion as a bit of a halfway house. If I pop my motor then I think I would just go straight to 3.5, although I do like the thought of the 24V M50.

3.5 is cheap and cheerful option...E30BeemerLad wrote:what power do you get from a pretty standard 2.7 conversion? I always look at the 2.7 conversion as a bit of a halfway house. If I pop my motor then I think I would just go straight to 3.5, although I do like the thought of the 24V M50.
a good 2.7 will be slightly quicker than a m50 and feel torquier and quicker also.
2.7 is not about top bhp figures but torque... much like the 3.5#
id say go 3.5!!!!

cheers Karan - I like the way you think fella
"no replacement for displacement" eh!
Mind you, 3.5 conversion means i'm into different box and prop etc doesn't it.

i now the panel filter wont give extra bhp but it will help it rev a bit better witch should help it pick up a bit better and be a bit more smoother
