Hartge springs should be H&R no?
I'm sure someone will correct me but from research the E30 suspension kits from Hartge were Bilstein shocks with H&R springs
Thats the 3rd different type of H27 badge I have seen, there is the simple metal lettering (without black plastic background), the one with the Hartge blue stripes and now this one..bloody confusing.

Mark/Barry, cheers for confirming that.
Tim, I know for sure that these are not the original springs, they were changed due to a snapped rear spring which was an MOT failure, it's all documented in the paperwork I have for the car, just no confirmation of the make of spring used. The car still has the bilsteins.
As for the badges, then these are the metal ones you mention, very thin and fragile.

Not much news really, been really busy with work!
Still hunting a rocker cover and front strut brace, missed out on a strut brace last week, it ended at £155.
The rear strut brace I have is a Hartge item, I've noticed an identical item on the Hartge E30 brochure
Some opinions on the interior would be nice, do I stick with the original 325i sport black leather, or do I fit a really nice E30 M3 black heated leather interior...

Breaking the Sport would be madness. It's not THAT bad. It needs a good experienced welder to cut the grot out and repair it - What you can do is replace just the inner arch outer halves. That outer arch lip looks like a good clean up with a grinder and a bit of Hammerite will do before some Waxoyl and refit the side skirts.
Even if it costs £1000 to do it, it's still a £3500+ car when done as it's a car with a Hartge H27 conversion and history. The conversion bits relate to that car and not what you might plan to fit it to.

BTW Eibach probably make the Hartge springs anyway - they do for Alpina and AC Schnitzer.

Simon, I think this car needs to remain standard H27.. Although the M3 rear seat looks better you know what the purists are like lol. But its your car
E30 M3 Unichip Alpha N style conversions, this is the ultimate for extracting the best out of your S14 M power car.

Andy, the car is being repaired, and will see the road again. Won't be an overnight job, as I'm trying to do as much of the stripping/preparation work myself before it's handed over to a proffesional, and that's time allowing at the moment.
Paul, I want to fit the M3 interior, I also think the front seats look better. I'll probably end up keeping the original just in case.
Roger, can you make a good replica of those badges then? If so, I'd be very interested....
Chris, so have I!

Lack of time, lack of updates!
Still in the process of stripping at the moment, found that it still has the original Hartge shocks on the rear...

Fronts seem to be bilstein, haven't pulled them out yet though..

Glad they are the originals, they will be visiting Bilstein for a rebuild eventually.
Exhaust is a concern, someone has fitted that silly flexi pipe to make up the section between the manifold and the centre box.
There's a guy on e-bay.de selling hartge stuff, but it's labelled as H26, would this be ok for this car?

One for Simon13, looks like they are proper Hartge ones, the paint has peeled though..

That exhaust is so council!
Lovely Billies tho. I bought a load of Hartge shocks from a bloke in 2006 including one pair of E30 ones. A set of Hartge E34 M5 shocks are on my E32.

Car is a rolling shell at the moment, and in search of a good enough bodyshop for the work to be carried out.
While things are on hold, I've been on a collecting spree, buying some nice parts ready for the rebuild.
Steering wheel and brand new gearknob
Leather handbrake handle and gaitor
Stripes in grey
Fire extinguisher and bracket
Proper accy tray to sit on the battery cover and 1st aid kit and triangle
Bought new clips for M-tech kit
Sp evo bonnet seals
Pair of almost new smiley headlamps, and front foglights
Still looking for rocker cover and front strut brace.

Ideally yes! But I'm trying to find somewhere local.bss325i wrote:Beardymatt?Simon wrote:Car is a rolling shell at the moment, and in search of a good enough bodyshop for the work to be carried out.
A good friend is collecting his motorsport convertible from a bodyshop this weekend, he's a regular at the BMW shows, and is always winning the show and shine/concours, so I know I can trust his judgement on the workmanship.
This place is fairly local too, and looks promising..

Sorry to say no progress, I haven't been in the garage for months now
Had a tidy out in the garage today, and had to move the car, had it running briefly, did a quick sound clip, love the sound....it's very different to what I'm used to an M20 sounding like..
