think they are 6 speed manuals from the likes of 850csi. A very expensive bit of kit, i mean like £1K-£2K for a box

if i had to write out a guide, then it would be like re-writing the original thread.treeseries wrote:i dont suppose i could grab a list of parts off you could i? or glen if you wouldnt mind writing out the idiots guide to v12 swaps that would be a great help
it might be easier if you made a start on your conversion and give me a shout if you get stuck on something and i'll do my best to help.

as glenn said ,but dont take this conversion likly as you will need a fair but of money to do it right plus the main thing of a gearbox , 99% sure you wont get a auto box in they as the engine will not sit in the right place at all
Ive got the removable bellhousing from a 750 auto box, if its of any use to you......
Gaffa tape is like "the force" - it has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together.

thanks every1 for your comments i know its gonna be a challenge i think ive found the box though so im ok there. its not a project i plan to rush as the car its goin in is an on goin project with me so dont expect to see it any time soon. but i'll do my best and keep in touch.
Have a look on www.locostbuilders.co.uk and search for 'bellhousing', 'gearbox adaptor' and the like, loads of simple innovative ideas on there along with tips on getting alignment right. First thing I'd consider after not finding an E31 box is welding the bolt ring (cut down) from a 750 autobox onto a cut down manual from something with a similar power output (M3, M5, Supra, T5 etc). Either that or make an adaptor plate.
What flywheel and clutch have others used? Can you still buy a new flywheel and ring-gear?

There was a bit in the Alfa V6 thread about making a bellhousing. Not something for the fainthearted, mind,a V12 into an E30 is much like that....
Youth is wasted on the young.
Pity none of those make clear how they dealt with the clutch, the best of the fake lambo motors still has the flexplate fitted in all the pics. Custom flywheel and clutch would cost more than the motor, wonder if any other stock flywheel will fit
