is it worth replacing all of my bushes with poly ones or do just certain ones need changing to make it handle better?

Personally i would replace them all, however it is a bitch of a job and you will only see a big difference if the ones you replaced are fu*ked(which they will probably will be)

I understand that you're better getting new BMW ones than the Poly bushes, unless you're going to put it on a racetrack.
Currently slumming it in an E46 Touring

A lot of people say that.
I have poly bushed everything on mine except the engine mounts and I don't find it harsh at all.
Maybe I'm just tolerant of it after the lowered Minis and Mk2 Escorts etc.!

Snap, and i'm using stiff "spax" shocks and springs. May be a different story when the H & R Anti Roll bars go on thoughDRIFTBOY wrote:A lot of people say that.

Err, this is in the motorsport/trackday forum is it not?Gortour wrote:I understand that you're better getting new BMW ones than the Poly bushes, unless you're going to put it on a racetrack.
I definitely rate the poly bushes, i've got poly subframe, diff, gearbox and engine mounts on mine and they are great. I did use solid rubber eccentric wishbone bushes after hearing a multitude of horror stories regarding the powerflex version of these.

I doubt it mate, mine still rides like a limousine compared to a Mk2 Escort!12345kevin wrote: May be a different story when the H & R Anti Roll bars go on though
I'm using H&R springs though and I reeeeaaalllly rate them highly, sooo much better than the two sets I had on before those!
Next time we meet I'm more than happy to take you round the block in it so you can compare it to yours if you wish?

cant rate them enough, even if my set-up seams to be more crashy them my dads (12345kevin) bearing in mind he has a full spax kit and i have spax springs OE bilstein shocks,
and your quite welcome to drive my car if you can get the clutch down etc as i have a fixed seat in mine.

Polybush all round, BMW M3 on the control arms
Have seen 4 powerflex control arm bush failures, and been told about numerous others, not sure about the other suppliers of polybushes as never seen their CA bushes

I have a full set of poly bushes on the car.
However
A friend of mine who works for Jaguar in the suspension / set up area wrote a large article on this a while back. Basically he feels that new rubber is better than poly. I did post it in this section some time back. It might be worth a read if for no reason than to generate debate
