where do you mount your tweeters?

Hi all

I know they need to be pointing towards your ear, but where do you mount them? Pics would be good

Can you mount them with the footwell speaker, but pointing up towards the driver?

My car came with them in the little triangle plastic backing of the door mirrors. They do the job and you can definitely hear them ok.

i mounted mine on my door cars, easiest, but there will be holes on removal.

i got components, so the tweets go on the wing mirror triangles, and look almost the same as oemԚ´s

happy with the sound difference also

every set of speakers and set of listening ears will have a different ideal mounting position for the tweets. idealy you'll have them loose on a longish wire with some tape/blu-tack handy so you can try them in various locations and listen to what works best.

mine are on the door cards - but that what sounded best to me!

I've got mine screwed to the dash in the far corners, around the tax disk sort of area on each side. seem to work well enough there but having listened to placey's over the weekend I'd be following his advice

get the tweeter pods that fit into the door where the wing mirror is. Then prise out the oem tweeters and wedge yours in with blue tack. the wiring is all there ready to go...

coz you cant get them close to your head put them close to the front screen and use that to amplfy the sound. trust it will.

Get an extra long bit of speaker wire and some bluetack. Try the tweeter in different positions.

If they are up high you may need to attenuate them with -XXdb setting on the crossover or they can sound harsh.

Use a CD such Christian Aguilera - Stripped. Shes got a voice thats ideal for positioning tweeters as you can tell if things are getting too harsh very quickly!

It's all about trying were they sound/work best. Typical places are in the kickwells, A pillers or mirror triangles.

Kickwells are a bit tricky in BMW's because of the big center consoles (maybe not so much in the E30 I think). I've quite successfully got a 3 way system running in the kicks in my E46 (mid in stock locaiton).

Yes, they are still available; not too expensive for a completely oem look

ive got mine mounted up on the roof lining i ran the wires up the rubbers on the a posts and then attached them where the trim ends just before the roof lining sound nice and crisp as they are pointing down towards your ears notgot any picsbut if you want to know what i mean can try and post some 2moz
