all the nice wheels seem to be 5 studs IMO. is this an easy/expensive conversion?

Do know if these would work. It says they can change the bolt pattern.

I have been told you can convert to e30 M3 or e36 5 studs, however it isn't worth the effort and expense to do it.
the spacers above may be a solution. but i didn't see any 4->5 stud.

if they did four to five stud spacers i would def. buy them
can`t see any on the site either tho
i have seen the spacers used on e34`s to fit e36 and e46
wheels on, as it sorts out the offset problem of fitting 3series
wheels onto 5 series

if you could get the right offset wheels then that would be ok, those spacers look ok but are a bit thick
i could have had some of these for Ԛ£120 2months ago but didn`t buy
as they were 5 stud...

maybe i should have got them after all

they can adjust the thickness to what you want.
I suppose they just slap it on a milling machine.
Spacers are still overpriced IMO !

We've no turning facilities or skills, and we're always struggling for engineers unless we have 'proper' drawings.

You need to replace the whole suspension setup (apparently)Andy325i wrote:why do you say that dude?smithy318i wrote:I have been told you can convert to e30 M3 or e36 5 studs, however it isn't worth the effort and expense to do it.

Daz we'll look in to this when you get back from your holiday cos I think Tates in Otley should be able to knock them up, just a case of how much, the more we order th cheaper they will be.
M3compact, if you're in Ilkley then I may be able to help you with drawings at some point, I did 1st year engineering before switching to marine biology so I can get auto cad off a mate an should be able to knock up some schemo's of what ever that is? Is it a 5 stud front hub with the bearings and every thing? converted from M3 perchance? If so then where is the ABS ring?
Keep us posted Daz

According to the drawings on real OEM if you swap the rear hubs and bearing from a 2.0l Z3 they are the same size bearing as the E30 making the fronts the only mission. When I looked into this for my rally car the only way I could see to do the front was to put E36 font setup on the car.

The pic is of a spacer/adaptor that sits behind the disc enabling E39 M5 front discs to be fitted along with the upgraded wheel studs. (Using E36 hubs).
I desperately need a rear disc 'cloning' to use as a bell to mount an AP motorsport disc onto. (Can't modify a standard disc, because they're cast.)

Do you know who Tates are? The Oil supply company, fit boilers and stuff?
They are in Otley opposite the out doorsy type shop past the shell garage.
Originally started as Geo Tate Engineers, now make all of their money out of oil and boilers. Still the best engineers in the business though. You'll be horrified when you go in it's a far cry from an F1 pit, theire work shop is a stone barn in the middle of Otley! I went in one day to have something done and they were making an autoclave fro Leeds Uni medical department, an experimental proto type. Any way they were the only people who would do it as it had to be made enitrly of Mloybdnum sheet, and you cant weld it so they were stitching it togeather with molybdnum wire! These guy's are the mutts nutts, if you can't get shit to stick to a blanket they'll weld it on for you
Any way take your bit in to reception and ask them if they can make you another, if they can't (and they're always fcuking busy) then they will tell you who can. And they never want drawings, pic on the back of a fag packet will do.
