At least they're only talking about the Mini and the A(rse)-class...
Take heart chaps, our E30s are QUITE safe from the terrible inflictions of the dreaded Muck-aides...

it makes no difference to me either way but ive always felt mercs were a classier marque after hiring many different models over the years.

i was in cottys auto in newquay and it was no slouch. my view of mercs has been tainted by the three i drove as taxis, the boxes were sluggish as hell and, well generally crapAnd Chris, my E30 has an auto box shoved up its driveshaft... Still, at least it's not silver too...

Mercs are nice cruisers, they're for sitting on the motorway all day at 80-90.
Or posing in around town with the radio pumping, and your arm out the window...
If you want something that handles, or want to get somewhere in a hurry, get a BMW..

Minis are front wheel drive though.... Murkydes are welcome to them.
As long as they get nothing of the main brand... Though I do wonder if Chris Bangle is employed by Murk to screw up the designs so as to up the Murk market...

The thing that makes manufacturer's strive to improve is competiton....
you always need a marker to beat....
if you join, then it'll end up like porsche, where they make cars to meet a market demand instead of making a car the best it can be!

They do already. Compare modern M BMWs with the E30 M3...aceraf wrote:The thing that makes manufacturer's strive to improve is competiton....

Too many manufacturers are conducting "joint" projects.
OK it halves the design/production costs leading to more PROFIT
BUT
The designers are failing to make individual models significantly different from all the others thats currently available.
Hence quite a lot of cars looking the same, but from different manufacturers.
It looks like all the car designers are reading from the same page of the same book.
It's getting to the point where it's only the "little" things which distinguish one model of car from another.
It's just not good enough
It's only the small independant companies that are coming out with, what you could call"different" cars now
