I started putting on the stripes and stickers for Le Mans today. C0cked up one stripe which I might redo if I have enough left over. People who have seen my car know that I will never fit the door numbers on due to my Hartge stripes so I whacked one on the bonnet, Now I don't now where to put the second one.

What do you think of the rear window like this

I wasn't too sure when I saw the "from above and in front" shot, but that last one looks pretty good

Im finding it a little tricky. I suppose you need do do a few to get good. The stripe next to the number on the bonnet is the first one I did and its a bit crap where the crease is in the bonnet so my redo that. Shields and number no probs.

I tried the soapy water method but had problems with trapped water and not being able to get it out :surrender:

Pop the water pockets with a pin, squeeze the water from the pockets.

Bit like popping a spot! :D

Nice Paul, i'm not looking forward to covering all of mine either. Its going to take ages, especially the roof. I would put your other number on the drivers side on the roof at the back corner. So its diagonally opposite the one on the bonnet. I know you won't see a lot of it, but anywhere else won't look quite symetrical in my opinion.

on the bonnet we found the best method was to cut the stripe on the bonnet to follow the curve of the raised bit instead of trying to get it to take to the crease if that makes sense.

Yes that does make sense. I had lots of material over after doing the roof so ripped the crap stripe off the bonnet. But i used to much water or too much saop and the bottom edge wont stick I have taped it down and hope it dries out overnight.

Now I have redon one of the bonnet stripes it makes the other look bad so I might redo that one as well

use a credit card or somin to remove the water form underneath. that will help it to dry easier.

it will stick eventually.

You can speed up the process by heating it slightly to dry out the water.

Pockets of water or air can just be popped as d6dph says.

Looks good. I'd put the other number on the window as you've shown.

I used lots of water and a couple of drops of fairy liquid in a spray gun that way you can put the stripes on and slide them around until you get them right then use a credit card to push the water out. I laid the roof stripes in one go then cut them where the sunroof edges are.

Just out of interest my stripes have a gap of one fag packet between them. Was all I had to hand, taped one fag packet each end of the roof then lined them up by eye. Ok its not great but they are only on for a month.

It cost me £40 to have my Hartge stripes put on, money well spent in my eyes as they are spot on and not coming off

A f***ing lot chav if you ask me!

The stripes clearly look better like that - it's not just me trying to be different/difficult... honest.

I've got enough left over to either do another set t'other side, or do my Caddy too!

ziggy, guy wont be happy. this was discussed by a few people at the white rabbit racing meet the other week, and the conclusion was everybody should have them down the middle.

Rubbish! I swear someone at the clapham meet didn't have them central?

Its a lot easier doing it like the zigmeister has because if you do them centred you have to negotiate with the raised bonnet line of the e30 in the centre and it is very hard to squeeze the air out etc.

cotty180 thats nice work :D

i will admit i am not a fan of the vipor stripes but they dont look bad actually but i would have put the number on the bonnet on the left (other) side of the stripes and much closer to the lights.

IMO

it just looks a bit floaty lost up where it is.

best bit are your stripes down the side!!!!!!!!!! i have always loved them and remember seeing them on your e30 ages ago and thinking 8)

Am i right in thinking that you have to wash the car with washing up liquid to get any polish/wax off the car so they stick?

Nope... potentially if you wanted them to stick forever, but I'm guessing you don't?! I just washed mine with my normal stuff. (& then waxed it straight afterwards!)
