The handbook of my 1986 320i says, for unleaded petrol, it requires "minimum octane number 98 (RM)". Is that the same as 98 RON? Have they lowered the RON rating from 98 to 95 for post facelift cars?E30 are designed to run on 95RON fuel
I also run an old Jag which is not converted to unleaded. I use Castrol's lead replacement additive which also contains an octane booster. Wonder if anybody else has tried that.
If it makes little difference to MPG or performance whether you use supermarket fuel or premium grade, then I guess we could all save ourselves Ԛ£100 a year minimum by filling up with the cheap n cheerful stuff! Now that must be good for a few beers (or a few litres of synthetic for the oil change) surely.
Cheers
