If you buy a 325i/325iSE, IMO I wouldnt bother going to the trouble of finding and fitting a Sport gearbox, unless the original box is knackered. Its only the first couple ratios that are different, so theres no real point in swapping gearboxes for the hell of it.

You will want the diff from a Sport though - LSDs are always worth the time and effort to fit

James, thanks for your input also, you guys have such a depth and breadth of knowledge, I'd be screwed without the e30zone!

If the gearbox change isn't going to be worth it, then I'll not change it! Definitely want the diff though winkeye

Would you recommend doing what you've done to yours? I see you have a rare 330i badge there....!!

If you buy a 325i with a good box, then I dont think it would be worth the hassle. If youre doing other work in the future (like a clutch change for example) and you find a Sport box cheap enough, you could swap the box then or as I said if the box is shagged, but its not something I would do just to have a Sport box.

I will let you know when I get to drive it properly :x

James, I didn't want to know that - it'll be worth the hassle in the end, and I'll be green with envy!
