Does anybody know the size of the bleed nipples on 325i/318is front brake calipers? One of mine has at some point become rounded off and needs replacing. Is it now just a case of mole grips and WD40, or are there any better techniques for removing it?

Cheers,

I would get the mole grips on there, this is what I end up doing when I cant find the 7mm spaner.

Heat. Lots of it.
Blowtorch and molegrips.

IIRC there are only two sizes, and ours are the smaller of the two.

Steelers are a bit pricey on bleed nipples as I recall. Something like £6 each. Just measured the thread diameter of my spare one, and it's 6.88mm

Yeah, just changed mine, 7mm spanner.

Mine were rounded too, so I took the caliper off, held the rounded nipple in a vice, and twisted the caliper off of it.

You're gonna need to bleed it anyway, at least this way you get full access to the area :D

New nipples were about £4-£5 from dealers iirc.

True, but at my local parts places I was offered two sizes, one with an M8 thread and one with something else. I guess I'll just try and get the one with the 6.88mm thread - thanks for the ridiculous precision!

£4-£5 each!? What are they made of? Human nipples aren't even worth that.
