Yeah its still going...just. Had a bit of boost cut on the way back from bristol the day after, hopefully it will make the Le mans trip. I need to investigate the sometimes whining fuel pump-an annoyingly hard to solve intermitent problem. In the whole time I have owned it the boost cut has kicked in twice, both on Hot days, perhaps the knock sensors are doing there best against a modified ECU:

It made 288bhp at 7,151 rpm and 311lbf.ft of torque at 3,400. So what I thought was my completely standard s4 isn't so standard after all :? :D

Still doesn't make it go any faster :(

So I'm assuming that's better than standard then? That's a lot of power in a blancmange!

Does the whining fuel pump affect the running?

As standard it should have 230bhp and 258lbf ft so its quite a bit better than that and that was 16 years ago when it was brand new.

It seems to whine more when the fuel level is below half. It whines from 1000-3000rpm, with load mainly but without it too sometimes. Need to get a good second hand one and try that. The pump doesn't "seem" to affect running, but with both problems heavily intermittant its hard to track it down.

Its too much power for the rolling bodyshell and truely awful brakes...ah never mind :)

Fantastic results though Jon, you gotta be pleased with that.

It's more complicated than that I bet Oz. It will always be like driving a canoe through town whatever you do to that Audi without spending serious money! It's fun though and (is this my favourite phrase?) it's comfy on a motorway.

More than pleased Oz, I was f**king thrilled it didn't sh!t itself on the rollers. The power it showed was a bonus.

But as Toby said it will never be anything more than a pokey motorway cruiser. Its exactly what I want really, if only it did 40mpg :) We've got the 200sx to be a c**t in(trash round a track) :D

We haven't got anything planned yet. A combination of my dad enjoying it too much on the road/bloody exams/ and this upcoming Le mans trip has put it on hold till after June really which is a shame. Hoping to do some more airfield days in it, then move onto some tracks. The old man has lost his bottle a bit with it and is reluctant to take it to tracks with lots of Armco for obvious reasons, after all its mainly his money invested in it :o To a degree I feel the same.

You have PM oz (in 2 mins).

******* wicked day. First time on the track, much harder than it looks....

6 laps is nowhere near enough on there. Not that it made any difference to me, renualt got really hot on the fifth lap and ive since found out that it melted a plug.

Good result on oz"s motor with the 2.7 that ant built.

Thanks to paul for putting up with us lot.
Track days are wicked fun.

So, now that you've had the taste can I expect to see you out on track more? Lots of fun to be had with a decent E30 or E36 out there......or an M5!

Yes sal. Its a good laugh.

Better doing it in something expendable though, incase it shits itself or you crash.

You got any of those rouge engineering mounts for the 21?..... :)

You'll soon be taking something expensive round the track.

Rogue's for Renault, yes of course they will fit straight on (somewhere).

It looked alright, but would no doubt be awesome with coilovers or some such.

I was more annoyed I blew the bastard thing up as I was catching the Bexley orange wheel boys!

Should have changed those plugs.

Well up for Silverstone again, love the track. That entrance to Becketts is heaven!

I'll try really think ARB's next time.

It was sad to see it blow up, you were going round quick.

Haha! Improvements are improvements, whether OE or not!

Uprated ARBs should decrease the body roll, must have good grip, has pretty big tyres.

The Civic was flying that morning, running so so well, was perfect, bar the n/s/f damper being knackered meaning I couldn't accelerate out of left handers without the wheel/dash/whole car shaking itself to bits.

That's teach me to change the plugs more often!

If you do another day there, or Brands or whatever, I'm up for it. :)

I bet you've mentioned plugs more times than a 70 year old mechanic by now.

Just remember, change the plugs! :D

328iS deserves a track day, will see if there is anything available which I can attend and let you know (and jonb).

Yea set up was good Sal but back end was a little light, backend is still a little high so hoping when it settles it should grip a little better.
Need to fit front control arms bush's and rear sub frame bush's then should have a better idea.
So far feels good though

Martin's fabulous M3 on the rollers, although I think he'll be back at the Ring having a gentle chat with a certain German tuner as a result..

Image

Pier's fabulous Hartge M5, Schrick cams, AC exhaust and sounded just fantastic.

My car looks like it's running bloody DASTEK advertising down the side already!

Seriously nice motor, and he's been spending a lot of time over there. I ran into him out there a couple of weeks back, and I think he's out again the week after me.

I haven't been out with him, how quick is he?

Looks like a cool car!

Well, I was slowly catching him towards the end of a lap. I was going fairly fast. I was going to chat to him afterwards to see if he was pushing etc, but I couldn't find the car. He did report that he'd suffered some troubles over the weekend, though.

I'll be over at the 'Ring on the 19th of May until the 22nd of May by the way. :)
