hey guys i've had this problem with my car for the past 3 days.
it all started in halfords when i started her up, shge ran for about 2 minutes and then she just cut out. then i tryed to start her but she didnt want to. i left her for 5 mins and she started again no problems, now she decides to cut out on some stops or even when im driving. can some 1 help? :cry:

Hi It might help if you give some more details of car for example 316i,320i and so on,and any mods.

At a guess it could be the Idle Control Valve.

I'm guessing sometihng to do with spark.

Distributor?

Possibly, id check for a dirty / worn contacts in the rotor / cap.

Could be crank sensor or fuel pump too.

Need to know if your getting a spark when it fails to start.

BEEMER sounds same as my old 316 it was crank sensor think it cost bout £30

Sounds very much like the kind of thing a dying crank sensor does.

Had a similar problem once. Turned out to be a dodgy DME relay.

lol sorry guys hmmm it gets spark i think its 1 of the sensors can any 1 tell me were the the crank ensor is located on the car? and the dme relay?

If it has sparks when faulty, it's not the crank position sensor or the DME relay.
Probably fuel related. (Relay or pump).
Take the rear seat base off, so you can hear the fuel pump (or not).

had a similar problem with my sport, found out the battery connections were loose so it was not charging properly.

I'd go with Brian's suggestion on this one.
Sounds like lack of fuel pressure either thru supply or regulator.
Hope you get it sorted.
