It is the centre motor on the convertible roof set ut that moves the roof cover (flap in BMW parts speak) up and down along with locking it

I have done both motors but the biggest problem is making sure all the microswitches stay in the correct orientation.
What do you mean by refurb? Is the motor gearbox damaged.
As you probably know the lacal BM stealers will take your wages at the door for one of these motors as a replacement.

hi
we have had it out and the gears are worn so am asking a local auto box repaiter to have a go ...my mechanic says it looks an easy repair if you know what you are doing...its better than Ԛ£200+ for a new motor

If you are stuck for the gear parts for repair try www.hpc-gears.co.uk.
If your local chap is any good with lathe etc it is easy

Hi Dave, I have a complete motor and gearbox with perfect gears ! the only piece thats missing is the part that allways breaks which is the gearbox end casing, if its any use to you make me a offer, im sure it would be better than trying to source after market gears, cheers Dave

The cost to refurb was more than a new motor but have found a used one from a guy called jason in the west midlands.specialises in convertibles..anyone used him
He says he does a repair kit for the hood motor..a new top casing in mild steel.. more info to follow as I will go and get the new motor on monday or tuesday
