335i water hoses, and a noob the e30 zone! Hi.

Ok, i have been on loads of other forums, never on this one. Fed up of hearing guesses by people who have no idea on what someone is asking, so have come to this forum with some hope on something i am definetly struggling on.
I used to run www.335itc.co.uk. not sure if anyone ever heard of it, or got on there. It will come back, just not on that address.
I havnt touched the car in a while, and with the tiniest bit of nice weather today, and it being a new year and all that (and my 635 sold, due to be picked up alter in the week), i have renewed enthusiasm. I have sent off the last part for the leather re-trim to be finished as well. sop Progress has begun again (3rd year now!).
most of the car is done, i have nowhere to host images anymore, so havnt got any to show (unless youemal me!, or want to host some for me(i used to do it for about 20 other people).
The chassis is mostly done, suspension overhaul done, engine in, box fitted, diff converted, genune m3 kit fitted, re-trim 90% done.
What i am stuck on is the bloody water hoses. I just need the part numbers for the water hoses i need. The hoses i have arn't the right ones, and i didnt ideally want to join two together. I will buying new hoses. the engine i have is the 218bhp type (first temporary engine), so there is not water takeoff at the back of the head.
if anyone ahs the part numbers i would love you (in a purely textual manner (sorry)).
If you want to know anything else let me know. I have gone from almost the 1st bolt, and have done most of what needs to be done, so sure i can return the help to others.

You are probobly not going to find a single direct fit hose but you should be able to mix and match some hoses/connectors from different M30 powered cars.
This is how the E34/2 cooling pipes are....

On your generation M30 (E28/4 ?) you don't have the pipe that comes off the top rad hose so i think the pipe off the back of the head serves the same job in that you can connect it to the bottom connection on the bulk head for the heater core.
Which expanction(sp?) tank and exhaust manifolds are you using ?

Using the e32 type. The confusion i had was when i had to link to the heater matrix. The six i had, had the older type e24, so the rear of the head link was there, further confusing me!
The diagram above looks like a full diagram, with the only left open outputs being the back two (in the diagram), that link to the heater matrix?
Modifying these hoses is not such an issue. I need to know the flow for the e30. i think its inlet in the top pipe, and outlet from the bottom. the hose that splits from the right of the thermostat housing is the output or input? Just trying to get the final details!!!

The top hose on the heater goes to a small port on the thermostat housing (no. 6 in picture), the bottom heter pipe joins to the hose which is 'T'd' off the radiator top hose (no.1 in picture).

i think i need to order a complete set for the e32 and see where i come short, then adapt them from there. It does seem like the e32 pipe's have the right connections, with just lengths being the issue?
anyone have a e32/ e34 based 335i e30? would be good to get some engine bay shots, and maybe some tips on how they extended the hoses. Unless the whole, hollow pipe and jubilee clips is the best?

This is my set up, E34 M30 with out the pipe on the back of the head, E28 535 bottom rad hose, E34 top rad hose, e30 header tank, E28 535 plastic T-peice.
I had to use a reducing straight plastic connector on one of the pipes to the heater to get the right diameter.

I take it the top hose that doesnt come from the t piece goes to the top of the e30 heater matrix?

My 335i is E34 based. I also used the E34 radiator, most people use an E28 one but I don't think it makes much difference to the hoses.
As you say, length is the important thing, but with the E30 engine bay being smaller they just need trimming down. It will vary slightly how much depending on which engine position you are using.

once the six gets collected, i will be straight down the local dealer to order the hoses up. I was thinking of new fuel lines as well. anyone know the diameter (internal or external) of the fuel lines? Would make sense after doing so much to replace the lot.

I'm running a standard engine to start with, but i have another engine that has had alot of work done on it. head/cam (288 piper)/skim/port/polishing etc, and i will be fitting the hartge throttle bodies i have as well.
I mentioned 300bhp as a target and got laughed at (well i think its a figure worth trying for!) no idea hw gigh it goes, but the 6 wasnt properly tuned, and that was very good, well above my 325i which had a fair amount of work done to it.
we shall see!
the main point the project will excel at is handling and braking. i have made my own coilovers, and she is running 360mm 6 pot calipers fronts.

Did you get the throttles/adapter plate from a chap called Ian ?
Was the Piper cam the one that was on Ebay a week or two ago ?
I think you'd need to chuck big bucks at an M30 to get to 300bhp and a really lumpy cam that probobly won't pass an MOT because the tick over emissions will be to high ?
Your not going to be to far from there depending on the final spec and tune, circa 270-280bhp ish ?
What were you thinking of using for an ECU and exhaust manifold ?

Sorry bud, I'm sure that's not a hose you need (the Ebay one).
Part number of no.1 in picture is 11531722669 that is for a non air-con model which I had as my donor car. Not sure what differeence is in the hose for air-con.

But it looks about the right size and it's got some nice bends which is going to be handy.
These are the numbers for #1 depending on age and transmision type.

£38 sounds about right from ECP.

i had one ages ago. was really disappointed when it didnt have the pricing database file. when i got distracted with tropical fish, and flat conversions i lost the disc! think i should get another!

When I replaced mine that go from the under-floor metal pipes to the E34 535i fuel rail I used 5/16" (8mm) hose.

Sad thing. I had a friend who used to do stainless work, but he has changed career now, so can't get it done cheap. i need to get the exhaust made up. I will have to start calling around after that now. unless he has a contact i can use. He may be able to still do it. will have to see. don't fancy 800 for a fritz bitz one really!

i missed this post as i've been away from here for a few days, sorting my PC out...
if you use a E28 535i radiator (thinner for a bit more room up front) then you'll need a E28 535i bottom hose. this needs no modification.
if you need a top rad hose, check the priced for E32 and E34 ones. they're a bit different at the rear but this is cut off and iirc one is about a fiver cheaper!
i am actually using a bit of E30 heater hose on the rear of both hoses to the matrix as this fitted around the servo a bit better. it's a squeeze though. essentially, the fronts of the hoses are E32/4, the rears are E30. this does mean i connected the heater matrix up backwards though and it makes an odd knocking noise when you do this which took a while and some help on here (mr andy iirc

oh, buy some KY jelly for getting the top hoes on the rad as it's quite a stetch!

Thanks. i'm just ghoing through all the awqward stuff, that deters me from getting on and finishing it.
Next up is getting all six guages to work. (was orighinally going to be turbo).
i need to find out all the threads, and sizes, so i can get the vacume, oil temp, pressure, etc etc going.
going top be a nightmare. doesnt anyone do a "size" checker kit. so you can thread it in and get the size?
