i needed a break from exhausts and manifolds, so this afternoon
decided to put one of the e36 m3 legs on.
took a couple of shackey pics just as the light was fading.
not to happy with clearances.

Think i read a post on R3V that you need the E36 M3 Evo TCA and the e30 M3 off set TCA bush to get the hub to sit in the right place.
The other thing that was talked about was to use the Tree House rear TCA mount thing,may be worth giving them a ring/email ?

yeh that treehouse thingy moves it further forwards in the arch, as ures appears to be back a bit..
hows the mnaifolds coming..... i'm still painting my m3 arms etc.. and working out how to get the m5 fuel pump into a 325i tank i bought... will check it out tmro..
what fuel pump u using glenn?

thanks andy, those treehouse rear tca mountings look perfect for what i need, just the job, i will ring them in the next day or two and price them up.
karan, i started it last weekend with the 320 pump in the tank. i will have to find out pump pressures and volumes for 320 and m5 pumps and take it from there.
manifolds are coming along, time consuming and a right ball ache but they have to be done.

i'm probably gonna cut out the metal where the fuel pump attaches on the m5 and weld the whole lot onto the e30 iS tank....
or i guess it would be possible to run the iS pump along with a FPR of some sort... but at high revs the pressure may not be high enough from the pump...
soooooo many problems for a beginner like me.... i better stick to painting my M3 suspension i have.....

jhonno, the camber is actually negative, the photo's are a little deceiving,
and it's just been lowered off a trolley jack, so the bottom of the tyre has yet to spread and settle, will take a better pic of the both sides on the weekend.
karan, i still have'nt checked out the pressures or flow rates yet(another in a long list of jobs to do).
working slightly different hours this week, so hardly been in the garage this week.
have you done anything to yours this week, seeing as you've been off uni?

i was investigating a leak on my 2.7.... which turned out to be all the sump bolts under the bellhousing are missing,,,, and the rest loose...
what a bitch!
no leaks now.... woohoo...
ok im setting myself a target of getting the m3 suspension and 3.64 diff on by the end of the weekend..... and lifting the m5 lump out the e34... where it currently resides......
thing is its raining and i need to strip and clean the running gear but i cant cos its raining...... bugger! well i guess ill make a mess in the garage instead.....
ok thats it im on a mission!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ill get running gear on and post pics of the pretty colours LOL by sunday...

and to add my 2p's worth,
the 320i pump runs at 2.5bar that=40 psi
and the 325i pump is 3bar which =50psi
im not too sure on the m5 pump but i'll work it out for you.

I had a 325 sport at uni an its was great even thought of getting one as a second car to keep the mileage down on the M5.
Although i would go for an e30 M3 with a 3.2 evo engine. But a V8 must be mad too. An sure to beat any M Car BMW make.

got the manifolds finished this afternoon, been a nightmare.
got a job to get your hands in there.
nearside was easy but offside was a ball ache,
each bank of cylinders has two manifolds, had to curl offside around the steering and give the engine enough room to rock and put in joints to allow for removal in the future.
original primary's were 1"
new one's are 2"
should have gained a few ponies there

found a front end damaged e30 m3 in a breakers near to me, sorted out to have complete back axle off him last week (Ԛ£250), i then asked how much for the whole back half of the car, he said give me Ԛ£350, so i said no problem i'll come back next week with a petrol disc cutter.
went there today and he had a fire there two days ago, lost most of his stock, i was well gutted. the m3 was on the end of a row and it had scortched the near side, so ended up only getting the axle.
will fit it next week

at least u got the back subframe arms etc...

Most BMW engines run with a 3 bar fuel pressure, but the E36 M3 Evo runs at 5 bar, and has a different pump to cope with this (the 3L M3 still runs at 3 bar). I'm not sure about the E39 M5 though.
When I did my conversion, I fitted the Evo pump in place of the E30 one. It was a bit tricky to get it in, as it's a bit longer than the E30 pump, but it does go in.

Why on earth did they make it a 5bar system?!
Oh well, by pure chance I've got a pump which supports over 5bar but I ,ust admit I've never even looked at the FPR on the Evo engine!

the wheels are 8.5x17, tyres are 225/45x17,
tyres are not really wide enough for the rims, but they came as a package,
i will put 245's on the back when they wear out (which wont be long me thinks )

How wide are your wheels mate?
I am planning on using these for mine. They are 8J wide.
Not sure what tyres I can use on them yet! Was thinking maybe 225/40/16"

used the m5 front section, m5 centre bearing and then half way along second section i cut and joined it to the e30 prop.
i inserted a slightly smaller tube inside the second section to hold the tubes central then welded them up.
will probably be out of balance but it will be ok for road testing the car.
the last prop i made was ok up to 120, when you could just start to feel vibrations.
