Isn't the coolant light on the check control panel for the coolant level rather than temp?
Engine conversions, Auto to manual conversions, parts, servicing etc etc... For anything e30 call 07718 901737

check to see if your expansion tank isnt over filled.

Yep. If the level's ok, then you probably need a new sensor... could obviously be the wiring to it though, so I'd try shorting the pins on the level sensor first.SPADGE wrote:Isn't the coolant light on the check control panel for the coolant level rather than temp?

If you buy a new sensor from GSF or Eurocarparts, check they give you the correct one.
GSF have twice sold me one for the tank on the end of the radiator type header tank, which will indicate low coolant when the tank is full and indicate OK when coolant is low.
There is a slight difference in length of the two types, so compare with your old one.
