Hi Gazza, the heated jets have power all the time the ignition is on. The jets have a thermistor inside them that stops them from heating when not needed and prevents them from burning out. I think they start to work at about 5 celcius.

They don't get warm enough for you to feel the heat but they do work very well.

Cheers,

Were there certain models these came on, or was it just an option across the range?

cheers lads the reason for this post is i thought they would be a usefull option wth winter on its way but i have a cab and it does not have heated rear screen or heated mirrors so i wondered how they switch on. the etk shows the loom connects or runs close to the reservoir and it looked like when you use the washers it feeds power to the jets to heat them. i have the jets, and the loom is still available at bmw for about 17 quid.

They dont work very well at all!

You need to mod them for full effect.

Well i connected mines to a acc live and put a Thermo switch in the circuit from a E36, what this means is that when the temp gets bellow a certain level the jets will heat up, this is good as wind chill freezes them also.

Gaz ... why does your cab not have a heated rear screen? I thought the warm air blower was standard on cabs.
Heated mirrors were an option ... but it's useful to have.
