mine is a 3.08, says so on the tag anyway?
a bit long for a stock m30 but it will still go well and cruise really nicely. a few engine mods will soon make it go better

for ref
I ve had 3 525e now
one 87 =3.07
one 88 =3.07
one late 88 =2.93, i think its only the very late 88 /89 525e got the 2.93 , dif, and they all had an easy lift too, as they don t rev past 4.5 revs

Hi is a E28 diff straight fit onto a E30? Also what other models can you pinch diffs from that go straight on? With those ratios mentioned above?

E28 MEDIUM case diff will fit straight on an E30 with a change of output shafts and rear cover for the corresponding items from a medium case E30 diff.

aha that'll be ok then. pretty much identical gearing to what my m535i had, about 135-140 flat out at 6k with 205/50/15s, more if you put bigger wheels on.johnl320 wrote:Its got an E28 dogleg box Toby so it still may be a bit short.Toby_Unna wrote:mine is a 3.08, says so on the tag anyway?

perhaps a touch short as you say but you'll certainly go well off the lights

I'm gonna see what its like then maybe experiment with slightly higher profile tyres,I know its not ideal but when you're on a budget of about 20 quid a month its all about compromise. I still need a rad and prop as well. Cheers for the help fellas.Toby_Unna wrote:aha that'll be ok then. pretty much identical gearing to what my m535i had, about 135-140 flat out at 6k with 205/50/15s, more if you put bigger wheels on.johnl320 wrote:Its got an E28 dogleg box Toby so it still may be a bit short.Toby_Unna wrote:mine is a 3.08, says so on the tag anyway?

Heres a couple of photos of the chrome turd 316 carb beast ready for conversion. Don't worry all the running gear ARBs etc have already been uprated.
