One on a long list so it seems.

Get this with engine sitting at idle and upto 1500 or so RPM ( at a guess ), warm or cold. If i blip the throttle it splutters and the revs die, do it twice in quick succession and it almost stalls.

Air leak on the inlet or overfueling?

Makes it pretty risky getting out of junctions etc, go to pull out and the car almost dies on me :?

Ideas?

Could be an air leak in the rubber intake pipe....

Could be a dodgy Idle Control Valve?

It's probably worth taking the breather pipes off giving them a clean, taking the ICV off to clean..

Could be the air flow meter...

Where be that?

There is a black cylinder shaped thing that sits by the TB, parallel to the head that gives off a mad buzzing with the ignition on, and i noticed the metal elbow that comes out the TB can be moved slightly.

Full strip down time :(

The bit you mention is the right thing, if it's buzzing it certainly isn't dead completely.

Righty-oh!

Stripped the throttle body off with associated pipe work.

I found a worrying amount of water in the pipe between the TB and the AFM?
The little ally elbow came out of the TB without much effort - should it be fixed?

There is emulsion in the oil vapour return pipe that goes from the rocker to the TB, none on the oil filler cap

The black cylinder shaped but that has a 3 pin plug - the internals move but there was some black oil in there - can this be cleaned out and oiled?

What's the deal with the water feed that runs to the TB - cant see a point to it :(

There is a black connector plug on the loom that connects to the TB that's not connected to owt - surplus to requirements?

The car had stood for a few weeks now, but that amount of water cant be right can it - and could it be the cause of the vapour even when the engine is warm?

Errrrrm thing that's it, is there anything else i need to check over whilst its all apart?

Any help is mucho appreciated :D

The black cylinder with the 3 pin plug is your ICV,clean it out with some carb cleaner.

You can also clean out your AFM and TB with carb cleaner whilst you got it apart.
