First, you need to find a 3 pin connector under the dash. You would probably have unplugged this when you removed the original engine loom and ECU. It should have the following wires in it:

Pin 1 - Black
Pin 2 - Green/Red
Pin 3 - White/Yellow

You then need to connect the Black (pin 1) wire to the Black wire that was originally on Pin 20 of the M50 X20 connector. While you are at it, you could also connect the White/Yellow wire (pin 3) to the White/Black wire that was originally on Pin 24 of the M50 X20 connector. This is the fuel rate signal used by the instrument cluster and OBC. The signal is not actually calibrated correctly, but you may as well hook it up.
eko wrote: Oh and had it running about 10 minutes earlier and the temp gauge doesnt go very high, wrong sender?
You need to fit the E30 sender in place of the M50 one.

Cheers,

Ian.
Ian,going to tidy up the wiring this afternoon.
Can you just confirm these wires are the last ill need to connect?
Pin 1 - Black - M50 Black
Pin 3 - White/Yellow - M50 White/Black

if these are the last,i can cap off all the other unused wires and seal them up!

Spent the afternoon sorting out the wiring.
All cut down, soldered and heatshrink and hidden in M40 bulkhead cover!
Came out well in the end and looks neat enough.

Got to sort out a leak on one of the PAS unions,p1ssing out,so ill do that tomorrow and wire the electric fan up to a switch but these are both easy fixes.
Then ill stick a seat in and go for a test drive, hopefully tomorrow!

Absolutely Brian, kettles always on for one of the Zone gods :D

While your here Brian, you may be able to help?

On the M50 PAS pump there are 3 pipes,I assume the third was something to do with self levelling suspension/wieght adjust steering on the 525 tourer?

Anyway, ive capped it off with -a cut down wheel bolt(made into a stud)screwed into pump, copper washer and nut but it wont seal?
Ive replaced the washer again and it still seeps out.

Any ideas on permanent seal?
Was thinking of putting maybe 2 copper washers on and try that but any suggestions welcome?

If I'm picturing it correctly, it will be leaking past the threads. The copper washer will be sealing the nut against the pump body, but it won't stop high pressure fluid passing between the stud and the nut. Go to your local Pirtek or similar hydraulic merchant. They should have a suitable blanking plug that will seal it up. Just take a sample of the thread with you.

Ian.

Well done though. You now know how wrong all those are that say the M50B25 conversion isn't worth it!

Of course its worth it,better than 2.0lt auto anyway winkeye

Did get a few dirty looks from the neighbours, especially one in a Pigeon 205 who thought he would be clever and not move out my way, probably cause the bonnet wasnt on-w4nker

Major issue now is getting the steering leak sorted, going to try chemical metal next on the thread, failing that ill have to get another pump of a saloon

Including buying the car(and selling off some parts from it),buying the 525(selling bits from that)then buying all the parts to fit it,the whole thing has cost about Ԛ£200 winkeye
Still got a few bits to sort out though so that may go up a bit more!

Well had my first proper go in it today!
Only went to Sainsburys to put petrol in it,but what can i say-goes like stink

Was saying to myself, dont boot it,its the first go in and and dont want anything falling off but...got to the junction at the top of my estate, gave it some beans in 1st/2nd,went to go for 3rd and - ripped the fooking centre bearing on the prop
My own fault really cause i should have fitted a new one before it was fitted!
Picking up a E36 325i prop tomorrow and going to fit a new centre to it before fitting.
Apart from that its sweet.

Still got loads to do yet,but basically it should be on the road this weekend?

Thanks again to all that have helped out with advice, you know who you are

Ill get a video up soon!
Oh yeah forgot to mention the noise
Sounds like a V8 on full chat-booted away from that junction, the look on everyones faces was great :teehee:

Eun when i say its loud,im mean its crazy loud!
Nearest thing i can compare it too from memory is my mates old Skyline fitted with 5 inch pipe 8O
Cant leave it like this but seems a shame to cut a piece of the stainless out to add centre box :?
Think ill put up a post, see if anyone knows if i can pack out the backbox with silencer wadding?
