Didn't get round to the Jacking point due to rain, And having already got a few boltz from the weder I thought it best.. This is my first time at welding on a body as well and had to keep moving the car round due to lack of space, So I'm well happy...

When I done mine I tryed to weld it as much as pos from the inside so the weld wasnt on the outside so much.
It takes some nerves to cut a big hole in the side of your car.
Are you going to fit a new rear panal ?

Marc that was definately a job for 'P40MAN' i could have had it in top coat, polished and be sitting down having a brew admiring my handi work while you were still looking for something to weld to !
An added bonus is P40 doesn't rust !

What is the inner arch (cough!) like ?

There is an Mcoupe on the way with a 100kg drum in the back and a 10kg tin of hardener. The M6 is zinnober , so if i use enough hardener i won't need a top coat !

That's what JonB told me !

Don't worry Andy, no need to feel left out , JonB told me if you use less hardener and some underseal in the 'mix' the repair turns out black,i am sure with a bit of trial and error you can match that dirty black colour your chrome turd is wearing in places !
P.S this is a very handy tip for outsmarting cocky MOT testers who sneakily scratch away under your turd looking for the telltale signs of red 'hairymary'

pete
you tought me everything thing i know when it comes to jacking points, inner arches and scuttles. ive took note of the above comments.
although as a side note. mixing underseal is a bit fussy. i just spray the red weld with my new found tool....stove paint.
then throw some dirt/dust into the mix.

Maybe Andy or Pete could offer a London based 'Drive Thru' fibreglassing service? Drive in one end and 6 Kosovans with trowels and REd Welding can whack it on, another 3 sand it off again, 3 more blast on the underseal and a sprinkler can shower it with dirt and shite for that professional 'MOT' pass finish!
