I know its a long shot and i'm 99.9% sure they arn't the same but can someone confirm an E34 diff won't fit an E30? Just discovered my 535 donor car for my 335 conversion has a slipper 8) If it won't fit can anyone tell me what it may be worth in good order?
Cheers Spadge...

I think it is a differemt case, but if you have a big cased diff maybe you could swap the LSD center.

I asked this same question only a couple of weeks ago and apparently not.

I would have thought value would be similar to an e30 slipper? Ԛ£200 - Ԛ£300. Plenty of e34 lads out there after one I bet. Not so many e34 sports to half inch em from as e30 sports is there.

E34 LSD's are worth f*ck all - Ԛ£150 if it's a 3.91 ratio M5 unit. E34 parts are just worthless now, their day has gone!
I'm pretty sure the 535i LSD unit fits into a big casing E30 diff.

offer it on the bmw5 website.

i dont agree with andyboy that their day has gone but you dont get the same enthusaism for modding e34's as you do e30's ,(putting the cat among the pigeons now) even though the e34 is a superior car.

But why bother when there are so many ratios available on the E30 and E28 diffs from 2.97 through to 4.41? Seems like a load of work and aggro for nothing. All that beam welding, different driveshaft flanges, different rear mounting, different prop flange. When a big casing E30 Type 188 diff is all but unbreakable it seems like a waste of time - but I'm sure there's a reason!

I think it's from a Sweedish E30 with an S38 and a BIG turbo(800-900bhp) ?

Aaaaaaaaahhhh..............

But the E28 535i diff is stronger and bolts straight into the E30 axle beam. The E34 diff uses E30 bits inside.

Its the E34 M5 diff fitted to that 900bhp M3, which Im guessing is a little stronger than a 525i diff.
