Just wondering really. Before deciding to keep the Rieger engine standard, i looked at quiet a few conversions, from a 3.8 M5 conversion, to a similar V8 twin turbo set up that was posted up a while agao, and even Dips's dream V12 twin turbo set up. Just wondering what everyone else's dream set up would be and how much you reckon it wold cost you!! It has to be something that can be done though, so no I WANT A LAMBORGHINI ENGINE crap :D

I think mine would be Clive at Prism Msports 750php+ monster or the new M5 lump with a twin turbo set up. Cost wise i have no idea, but i dont think you'll get an change out of 30k for clives engine. M5 twin turbo done properly would be a similar cost i guess. Wow. winkeye

lot's for me

the new E90/Z4/E60 3.0 lump 260 brake

the twin turbo desiel lump, all that torque could be a problem

E34 M5 lump i've been in a 3.6 conversion and they rip!

or a good old properly sorted 2.7 should never be under estimated

low boost turbo 2.7 too

i think there would be alot of problems with the 2 newer engines though

3.0 M3 (S50) turbo - well Im halfway there
I wouldnt go over the top, maybe looking for around 400bhp winkeye
As for cost, I reckon another couple grand on top of what Ive already spent 8O

And Im coming round to the diesel idea, so Id like the 330d engine in my touring. No idea how much $$$ that would be though.

5.6l V12 from the 850csi mid-mounted in a touring. I reckon it could be done for under 5k. I've a mate who's a genius bodyshopper/all round modder and another who designs looms at Lotus.

I reckon one of the new magnesium blocked engines from the Z4 and the like would make for a pretty sweet handling E30 :)

Wouldn't like to think about the throttle less thing though, although it's only a motor that controls it at the end of the day I guess so aftermarket engine management shouldn't be TOO hard!

the V10 M5 engine with a bit of hartge tuning might be the only engine that could take an E30 to the promised land of 200mph me thinks!

Ho ok. My mate has the new 535 and it sounds Awsome, but i guess the ultimate has to be some sort of V8, V12 or some sort of twin turbo based on anything really

For me it would have to be a Big Block chevy 502ci
600bhp std, with 250 bhp of Nos!
And a super charger! nice blower sticking out of the bonnet!

Oh what fun!

might have to make the chassis stronger!
but that would be worth it!

I've always had a soft spot for the blue oval and think cossworth are the BHP gods, I'd love a highly tuned 800bhp cosworth engine, and maybe even 4x4 runnning gear to lay all the power down on the tarmac.

Or even a boosted 3.6 M5 lump, maybe even with a supercharger or NO2 too as anti lag measures only! Now that would rocket.

4x4 running will blow up at 450/500 bhp

ooh fook that!

how about twin cossie engines! One up front one down back, you'd more than compensate for the weight increase, and have a AWD set up, one engine per 2 wheels! It has to be do-able, and would be menthol! Balance out the car too. just have 500-600 on tap on each engine and you'd be looking at 1000+ for the whole car.

Think of the 0-60, think of the top speed! Think of the fuel bill 8O

Whats the difference between 4x4 and 4WD? and isn't the Toyota Celica GT4 4 wheel drive? I've seen a 600BHP GT4.

If thats do-able why not more power to all 4 wheels? I mean ultimatly no matter how much power you have its all useless withough the right traction and torque to lay the power down as quick as possible, and you'd need to look at gearing as well for each possible engine.

I would love to go mental one day and have enough money and time to build a car for one purpose only the 1/4 mile. But as the 1/4 isn't the be all and end all I can't really justify ruining a car for it right now.

Whats wrong with you lot!

Best way for big power is a "seasoned" m40 (around 150k should do) with a k&n panel filter and dtm exhaust should make approx 421bhp at the wheels.

Common how much fun would that be (reference to post before last!)?? Guy down the orad has a 220BHP Clio MK1 (fully stripped) and its like being in bloody quick go kart, I've never come so close to actually shitting myself (obviously bar when I was a baby, the time I had scarlet fever, and when I was pissed in Kavos that time but anyway...)

So anything over 400BHP in the right E30 has to be pure sex, anything over that and I would actually cack myself. and I have bloody quick TT, its just they feel so much safer!
