remove the stud, re tap and replace the stud

depending on the damage to the head you may need a larger stud, but reading your post it sounds like the studs shagged not the head so no biggy :)

wind on two nuts and lock these against each other, then the inner one of the two can be turned and will remove the stud with it.

It all the threads are off- use a set of (probably smaller than usual) stillsons (plumbing wrench) to grip and turn the stud.

Failing that, shear it at the head face, centre punch it then drill into it with a cobalt drill bit. Keep increasing the size of the cobalt drill bits until the appropriate size of tap can be applied.

Ever had to drill out a cylinder head-bolt? Now that IS hard!

johnna

the studs out mate fell out as soon as i touched it hasnt snapped

the prob is the hole the bugger goes in has no thread left hardly so guessing it has to be helicoiled but im sure ya cant do the end (bulkhead) with the head on

liquid metal? wonder if that would hold it in for now??

Daz, I've got some timeserts at work (like helicoils but stronger) could give them a go before you whiz the head off.

Cheers,
