I just rebuilt the linkage on my 1990 E30 cabbie. Got everything back together and forgot to put the heat shield in.......

Are there any tricks to putting it back in...it's the one above the cat......

I rebuilt the linkage but using stock parts. Somehow, I snapped my selector rod in two.......

but now it's all together, and I can't figure out how to get this damn heat shield in :(

I have no idea.....

heat shield is back in. just took a fresh perspective and a pry bar ;)

after getting everything back together, while out on my first test drive, the selector rod started scrubbing against the dampner....... I took the selector rod out, bent it just a tad, and placed it back in. works like a champ!
