Right,

I have an oil leak at the front of my engine, it's not the rocker cover and the profile gaskit looks ay ok but it is all over the front of the block and I have lost quite a considerable about of oil, from half to the first marker on the dipstick in about 2 and 1/2 weeks :S

I think a gaskit might have gone on one of the plates on the front of the block I'm not sure I have gunked it up and cleaned it all down and will see what happens after each drive and hopefully find it. However for now can anyone suggest what might be causing the problem?

cheers all!
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!

Probably bottom timing cover Rob. Which is probably what Stuart means as well, so excuse the useless post :)

how far down the block is it? fron crank seals have a habit of going but sounds like its coming higher than that. also oil filter housing can leak loads if not right.

Had a similar problem with the 318is i jointly own.
it turned out to be the gasket that had gone. (took a while to work this out)
this was due to the fact the oil was Burning off on the manifold, so never saw a drop of oil on the floor.
Should be getting it fixed this weekend.
