can anyone get them over here?i know from previous experiance it can be a good modification!

benefits
free up some weight on the crank, and in theory it should make the car rev happier 8) less load on the crank

negatives
due to size of underdrive pulley compared to stock, using shorter belts means ancilaries are being driven at a slightly slower rate, but shouldn't cause any issues

1/anyone know the stock weight of the crank pulley?

2/supplier for the above? and of good quality which will be in balance with the crank,in other words not cheap shite

and any opinions

cheers greg

Don't think the pulley itself would weigh all that much, but it's (on the M20 at least) part of the crank damper and also the trigger wheel for the ECU so I'm not sure there'd be an easy way of swapping it for something lighter.

Stand to be corrected though! :)

The gains from the lighter weight are negligible. Any gains you see are from the underdrive effect. i.e. you turn the waterpump, alternator and p/s pump slower hence reducing their parasitic loss.

Think you'd notice more of a difference if you got an alloy flywheel.

The pulley is very small in diameter and lightweightish so it's not likely to make that much difference to the pick up of the engine IMO

Pretty sure there's a supplier in the states. Might be worth a search on e30tech.com or something :)

normally they would lighten your own flywheel.

Another mod is to have an electric fan which is said to free up a bit of bhp

Need someone who knows what they're doing to lighten your flywheel. Could potentially cost you and your hapless passenger your legs if too much material's removed and/or from the wrong places.
