lol....

powersteering problem ---> pump---> belt----> annoy stu----> rant----> women...

the route of all evil.

everything bad always leads back to women.. its like the action movie where the guy could just walk away,,,and be fine,, but needs to get the womens handbag from the burning house... gurgh, stupid!

if you need a new pump let me know,, iirc it wasnt too hard to replace.. well take off atleast, i got a spare from the breaker, by all means try it out,, if its good , we can sort out something,, if its not good, then just shift it back my way. reason i say is cos i had a bad noise when it was in full lock, thouigh certain it sounded like a screatching noise, more of a belt made noise then a pump made noise.

to neal:

my names neal, and im a big scary croydon boy, roarr!!!

that will scare Mr. BMW_Yard

No reason to slag stu off, my point was it's just so easy for people to miss the basics, I've been there and got the T shirt with dealers.

stu WAS struggling for ideas on this problem and I just offered my advice

granted YARD. its always nice to get a second opinion! thats why theres 14 techs at my place, and not one!!

maybe it was just the way you typed it that got us a little wired up?! no offence taken! it was/still is the bloody pump!!

gonna look for a leak over the weekend, as chris is loosing fluid somewhere. i couldnt see any drips or leaks, so i reckon it might be in his rack!! OH DEAR!!!

anyway, lets all just be pals and hold hands and skip along in the fields!!!

right, just been and looked at Chris's car AGAIN this morning, and its his rack that has burst a seal (well, all fo them actually!!) causing the fluid to run low and make the noise as the pump was straining!!

so, chris needs a rack for his iS... any offers?

not so much a pressure relief valve, more of an over-flow pipe, that returns the excess fluid back the valve if theres too much being forced into the chamber

its not the rack that makes the sound, its pump. it just doesnt like being put on full lock. i suppose theres too much pressure?
