should say Alpina in service book, there should be an engine number with a 4 digit number stamped near the bottom of the dipstick on most cars, the inlet manifold should have a unique 4 didgit number for the head, rocker cover MUST be black, and there could be some initials stamped here of the guy who built the car.
have you seen one you want? which model is it?
Cheers

ring sytners at Leceister 0116 282 7711 ask for Gary in Parts he should tell you if they have the build sheet. if he confirms it is you still nedd to check for the stamps etc as the engine could ahve been changed to a stock 325 over the years. can you post any pics of it ?

My Sport says 2.5i Alpina conversion in the owners manual and there were some receipts for an Alpina exhaust years ago.
Theres also a small Alpina sticker on the boot lid instead of the M badge which has been there since new.
Anyone know what thats about? Is mine different from a normal sport?

for a start no sports came with the M badge, these are retrofitted by owners. as for yours it could have the alpina "sport" pack which would have the exhaust, wheels and alpina cam..
However if it does not have wheels/alpina spoilers it couldjust have the zorst on it. put some pics of it up, has it still got the alpina exhaust, any engine shots i.e. 6 branch manifoild?

Not all Alpina cars will have the wording Alpina in the service booklet either, some cars were converted after they were new, and therefore won't have this little detail. Same goes for the signature or stamped initials, majority of German Alpina's ahd this feature, but as the engines were built in Germany then shipped across the channel for Sytners to instal, this tended to get left off!
Such a minefield trying to verify a genuine car these days, as Sytners only go back so far.
Jordano. Have you got the reg of this car? If you have mail me the details and I'll see if I can find info via the lists I have at home.

the wap number on the shock tower is std BMW, not specificly to an Alpina, the only Alpina's that had this were German built cars that had the original VIN no crossed out and a new one punched in, in it's place (or underneath it to be precise).
I don't understand why they couldn't use the chassis number you gave them, and why ask for the 4 digit no on the block (apart from saying it is an Alpina straight 6!?
Did you try Sytners in Nottingham or Leicester? Since Ged Scanlons departure, Nottingham appear to be a little lack where finding info for an older Alpina is concerned, but I have heard that the Leicester branch may prove helpful and yield dividends.
Where abouts is this C2.

If I gave my Reg or chassis number could they tell me if mine has had anything done? I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the log book and saw it and saw the receipts as well. Here was me thinking someone put the sticker on themselves years ago.

C2 2.5's didnt come with a 6 branch. The head was I think was similar to that of a 2.7 one.
These cars are very quick and the ones I now of put out 190 bhp.
If its got a Alpina sport pack then your sport is really worth something. Alot more than the rusty Ԛ£5000 ones advertised everywhere as "MINT".
