Went out to my car last night to start it up (waiting on me getting cash to tax it)

Put key in drivers door and turned.....

only drivers door opened-although heard the whine from the actuator in the footwell...

NONE OF THE OTHER DOORS OPEN (including the FUEL filler  )

tried operating it from the boot lock but got no response (apart from an open boot)

Key wont open the passengers side even though i made sure double lock is off.

Anyone got any ideas how to get the other doors open seperatly, and how to open the fuel cap?

I've got the zone article on overhauling the central locking, so i'll get that done at the weekend-but i need to be able to let people into my car in the meantime!

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks

is the loom change easy to do?

will one from any e30 fit?

just a case of removing the existing wiring and slotting new one in?

thanks for help :thumb:

theres a multipin connector from teh door to car body, these pins tendto get rusty, u can locate the rusty pin by removing the connector anbd shove anoither pin in, this fixed the problem on my old e30

where the Door loom plugs into the body, is there a proper tool for removing the pins from the plastic housing?

can you buy the plastic housing seperatly? (both parts)

Anyone know where you can get the pins from?

First of all, find the two red/black wires that go to back of the socket in the driver's door pillar. (access behind speaker in footwell). Disconnect both of them and join them together. This will cure most central locking problems.
If you still have faulty connections in the door plug/socket, it is possible to feed a new wire from inside the door, through the hole in the plug and socket, to bypass the pins completely.

What to the red/black wires do then? Do they tell the locking modual that the door(catch) is shut?

No, it's the power feed to the central locking ECU. Goes into the door, round a little loop of wire and comes out again.

so by cutting and joining them you remove the power supply to the control box?

if so then how do you get it to work again?

No, the control box is below the right hand footwell speaker. The power just goes into the door and straight out again. Not used inside the door on any E30 I've dealt with.

there are two red/black ones that feed into the control box-i cut them!

so its the two red and black ones that go to the door that i cut?are they the same wires?

thanks brian

:D Hi, had exactly same problem on my 1989 320i - took out the central locking control unit from under the drivers side speaker, took it apart as per the advice in 'Articles', and, lo and behold, the fuseable link inside had unsoldered itself. Re-soldered link back together, and all c/l now works. Guess I should check out wot made it break, maybe just hard work operating the actuators in cold/damp weather overloaded it?
Seems ok for last week though. treeman612

Hey Peeps, thanks for all the advice :thumb:

got an auto electrician to have a look at it-He managed to pop all the deadlocks so I can lock/unlock the doors manually!

This suits me fine as saves money trying to find the exact fault.

Now gotta get the cent locking loom out and the motors too-save me some weight!!

9.6 G?!

the dodge viper only can pull 0.91 lateral g......

your guess as to whether the figure is correct?!

with regards to weight, i'm toying with the idea of lightening my touring as much as possible, so as to improve its resposivness see

http://www.e30zone.co.uk/modules.php?na ... highlight=

for more details!

thanks once again for your help with the central locking!

If a cars central locking is broken would fitting an alarm that has a fob button for opening/locking doors work fine or does the central locking have to be working for the alarm to lock/open the doors?
