Looks like the mutant off-spring of a steering rack and a master cylinder attached to an exhaust bracket.
Is there a part number on it?

I really don't know! It was in the back of my car when I bought it along with an ECU and headlamp and few other bits and bobs.
I'll get the part number off it when I get home and let you nkow what it is. It's definately BMW I know that much - have a vague memory of someone saying it was off a 5 series.
Mysterious.

Does the car it came from have an inlet manifold with multiple hoses coming from it or a single hose?
