Looking good :thumb:

Also different to mine (the first set), but Im guessing using the E30 or E36 rack will also make a difference.

On a side note, I picked up my new manifolds this evening so as soon as I can get the car to the workshop, things will be back on track :woohoo:

Will that kink (im assuming its for rack clearance?) affect power etc and back pressure?

I hope it wont dull too much power, if it does I'll strap a supercharger on the front! winkeye

i dont think it'll sap any power. My number 6 pipe is no longer an equal length now neither. Its what needs to be done to make it fit.

Hi,

How much shorter is your No.6 primary ?

Anything much over 10mm will effect power,
and by more than you imagine.
I am not trying to undermine your effort,
and it is a bloody pain in the ass to get these manifolds right.

On my first set, I put a quite large indent in the manifold
to clear the front ARB, I reckon I lost about 20% of my power !!

When I did them for the second time, I still had a small indent,
but the increase in power was noticed staright away.
I may even do them a 3rd time and lower the front ARB by 10mm,
which would remove the indent totally.

Do not under estimate how sensitive these engines
are to their breathing and exhaust.

Regards,

The Gorilla.

I have a few "dents" in mine, I plan to get it rolling roaded when the dust settles to see what I have.
From what I've read, around 300bhp is about right for a good s50b32? I have the ecu etc from a ZM coupe but would hope to see the 300 mark.

I plan on sourcing my motor from an MZ3, how will this affect the computer / wiring side of things? Are the computer etc the same for M3 / MZ3?

Excellent Andy :thumb:

I bet you cant wait to get it out on the road, for its first run.... winkeye

Looking at your exhaust pics, I realise Ive was being a fool and mine will fit to the side of the diff - will just need to re-angle the tailpipes.
Turbo-Brown wrote:Can't believe how factory that looks!
It does look like it should of been there from the factory, it just suits it so well.

hi guys,
thanks dudes ! Factory look was what i was going for,im glad i achieved it (appart from big dumb green airfilter !!! )

James, both tail pipes were chopped off and re welded on at the right angle appart from one being a bit wonkey, but that'll be sorted this week.Cant wait for a test drive winkeye (my bro's type R couldn't keep up  ).

Sandy,
I really struggled to fit all that wiring into that 4cyl engine loom cover,it took a whole day to do it.The only bad side is i had to put the ecu in the glove box.I just partitioned the glovebox inside so that it cant be hit.Pic below :

Image

Ian,
cheers matey, all your gold mine of info right there !!!! Got the coolant sensor in there,i even found a spare bmw plug to fit on the sensor.Crappy pic below :

New sensor on the right for those that dont know, needed for temp gauge to work

Image

I really need to sort out some brakes also.
Ive got these audi S3/TT disks which i have re-drilled and bored the centre out by 1 mm.

Image

Not sure i want to use them now, still waiting on bootyman to take some snaps of the 305 wilwood kit he has for sale.

I had mine in place with the tailpipes as they are and it would fit, but its close to under the diff with very little ground clearance. I think your solution will be the easiest way round that.

Your washer bottle, header tank and brake reservoir - are they new? And if not, how the hell did you get them so clean? 8O
(my bro's type R couldn't keep up  ).
And all on the driveway

Im not sure on the brace as i swapped my twin tube sparco one for it as it wouldn't fit with the 4cyl wiring cover in place.
You got firsties on the disks if i sell them :thumb:

Dan The, that strut brace looks exactly the same as mine.Do a search on ebay for them and look for a firm
called Exklusive Design.Got mine for Ԛ£32 but took about 6 weeks to deliver. Will post up a pic later so you can compare them.
