Quick reply maybe, but totally incorrect!
Fuse 20 is for the heater fan and aircon, if you have it.
Heater fan can seize, and stall current might just about be enough to blow the fuse.

Thanks for that, I have just fitted a new fuse and the heater fan does not work now but I know that it was last time I used the car. Can the heater motor be repaired or will I be better off looking for a second hand one and is it easy to get at it.

I took the fan motor out today It was a bit tight but I connected it to a battery charger and it worked fine. I then ran a test light onto the wires for the fan and nothing on any speed. Do the fan switches go faulty and if so could this have caused the fuse to melt

The multi section resistor that is switched into circuit at positions 1, 2 and 3 can go faulty, but it's not in circuit for position 4, and shouldn't be responsible for fuse blowing in any case.
The motor should turn freely. Try running light oil into the bearings while its running on the battery charger
Check to see if you have power at the fuse - or check to see if the mirrors work. They both get power from relay K7.

Hi thanks again. I have checked and the mirrors still work. I will check in the morning to see if I have power at the fusebox.

Hi The mirrors still work ok but I dont seem to have power to the fuse, I checked from both sides again with a test light and nothing. I pulled out the k7 relay and pin no 87 looked like it had been hot. Is it possible that the relay could be at fault or is the fact that the mirrors still work enough to say its ok
Thanks Andrew
Thanks Andrew

Mirrors are on fuse 19, right next to 20, and joins to K7 pin 87 socket by a printed circuit board. Difficult to see how power can get to one and not to the other, except for a very severe dry joint.
Easy enough to open up the fusebox to check. Four screws (one hidden under a relay), and ease the top up. Nothing will break or come loose, except for a 5 or 6 pin plug that might partly pull off. (Obviouds when you see it).

Right all fixed now. Took the fuse box apart and had a good look at the fuse holder itself and it was a bit dirty bits of plastic etc. Cleaned it all up fitted a new fuse and it seems ok now
Thanks Again for your help

White 5 pin plug pushes onto the row of pins sticking out of the PCB.

Are these pins all in one line. The plug that I have in the fuse box is more like 3 pins on top of two if that makes sense ***

Aah! I know the one you mean! Never seen it connected to anything, and I've no idea what it's for!
All the wires from it go down into the cabin, but I've never traced them, and they don't appear on any of my wiring diagrams as far as I can tell.
