My indicator is not turning off automatically when I straighten out from a turn....any known reason for this?

Is your steering wheel on straight? If not, this is probably the reason.

Hard to explain this but u will see it when and if you take the indicator stalk off.
On the part of the indicator that fits to the steering column there is a springed lever. This locks either up or down depending on which way u r turning, when the steering wheel turns the opposite way it releases the lever and turns off ur indicators.

the indicator stalk has a small plastic lever on the inside. this lever may have worn away or have broken off.

Steering wheel is definately on straight
I can see the little lever and it moves very slightly when I move the indicator up and down......looks like it may have worn to be honest.
May look to changeit as it is a little annoying - having you indicator left on for 10 mins after you've made a turn.

Mine does the same, is it possible to just change the plastic part or do you have to replace the who indicator stalk (mine has the OBC control on it aswell).

you will need to drill out the rivets.Steviec wrote:Mine does the same, is it possible to just change the plastic part or do you have to replace the who indicator stalk (mine has the OBC control on it aswell).
i would replace the plastic bit from a non obc stalk if you have an OBC stalk fitted. otherwise just replace the whole thing.

Heh....I had this driving down town. I got into Oxford street and then the car started drifting to the right. I tried to straighten the car but nothing was happening and the wheel was just turning. I came to a stop in the middle of Oxford street and then I pulled the steering wheel and the fooker came offcamcc wrote:My indicator is not turning off automatically when I straighten out from a turn....any known reason for this?
As the wheel had physically moved it was no longer touching the stalk to turn the indicator off, now at least I know what to check for next time. Make sure your steering wheel is screwed in tight
