320s are still good motors, but cos the 325 has 50bhp extra it is a more popular choice especialy with the lead footed among us

tell me what i said is wrong?
320 plus points smooth as, sound sweeter than 2.5's, generally looked after better and not driven to within an inch of their lives like 99% of 325's are.
Most popular E30 ever sold in the UK so there are loads still around. Lots of good condtion low owners/milege examples around for cheap money.
I'll buy a 320 if there are any LPG ones kicking around!

theres only half a second in it between the 318is and the 320...9.9 and 10.4 respectively although my 2 litre can do it considerably faster

Youd be better off getting a 320 and dropping a 2.5 lump in for those reasons.Simon13 wrote:tell me what i said is wrong?

its an issue but know your just taking it to extemes. i think youl find the 318is is probably as good/better than 316 on economy anyway; jus cos its a bigger engine dunt mean its worse economydatourer wrote:If economy was an issue we'd all drive a 316.

Quoted combined mpg for 320 was 26, 325 was 24.6.
320's are good cars. 325's are better. 318is's are good too. M40 engined cars are also quite good.
Blimey. No negatives.

there is a large difference in performance between the 2
320's are very restricted on the air intake side of things

A mod that actually works for these puppies is fitting a 325i throttle body and inlet manifold.
This does make a nice difference to them. There is some dremel work required to open up the inlet ports slightly to match the 2.5 manifold sizes, but a good cheap mod to do yourself if u are DIY'er

priceless! here we go again...... simon13, why is it that you slag 320's into the ground? you have some sort of vendetta against them it would seem. we all know my opinion of the i.s (318 that is)(long story short...320 anyday) but i dont go saying shit like you do about 320's. we know your opinion . yes they are slower than a 325(its common sense) they arent that thirsty either, im not the type of bloke to moan about pence per ltr.datourer wrote:If economy was an issue we'd all drive a 316.

at the end of the day the 318is is the better car over the 320i
it's faster, more economical, more technically advanced and has all the sport options on it.
it's taken as red that a 325i is better.
Simon is telling the truth if he wants to add more let him but why encourage him to do it again so he gets the satisfaction of a reply?

the 325i is rreally faster than both, but really i think they are worstly driven, 318is is ok. and 320i i actually like it a lot, it's really smooth, they are not as slow as they say they are, my is a 1983 320i with 125 hp and i have apsolutely no rust, you in england have rust cause it's raining all the time ??? maybe... and i chose a 320i cause it was very well kept, and the isurance between a 320i and a 325i is almost double, it was too much for me beeing a student... o and i installed lpg on mine , and i drive it every day all day it's soo cheap cause 1L of LPG where i live is 0.46 euro 1L gas is 1.1 euro... and the car is still running smoth and nice

some old pig iron 8v vs. the m42 16v... M42 wins in the advancedness stakes..e30bmlover wrote:thats debatable, more technically advanced? i think you need to take your head out of your ass mate.Bob_S wrote:at the end of the day the 318is is the better car over the 320i

320i = 318i performance with 325i or worse fuel consumption, does sound nicer tho
my 325i gives me better mpg than my 316i, with more performance
