Hi i've pretty much finished my M50 conversion on my car and had to change the servo to the golf one etc...and make up the little spacer.

Im running Z3 brakes on the rear and 328 on the front.

The problem is when i go for a drive round the block and come back all my brakes are stuck on. When i release the vacuum from the servo it doesn't make any difference but if i unbolt the master from the servo and pull it away a little bit, the brakes release. And if i bolt the master straight back on afterwards the brakes are still released. So i thought it must be the spacer i made. Was to long and holding the brakes on. But when its bolted back on the wheels spin freely???

Now surely if it was my spacer holding the piston in on the master that was causing the brakes to stay on then when i pulled the master away it would release them and when i put it back on it would put them on again?

Has anyone got any ideas, pretty tired at the moment and probably not thinking straight

These are similar symtoms to what you get when the pull rod across the car is adjusted too long, so I expect it's either this, or, as you say, your spacer is too long.

Whats the condition of the return spring on the brake pedal ?
And is the pedal pivot lubricated ?
I had an old one that would stick in hot weather.

First thing to check is the adjustment of the pul rod.
If that's OK, then look at the spacer length.

Just to add another idea, i had similar problems when i first had my conversion on the road, what it turned out to be was the E34 servo one way valve didn't work properly for some reason, i changed it to one i got from a scrapy and it was fine.

When it played up you had to put your foot behind the pedal and pull it back up after you braked, the brakes wernt sticking on hard but you could feel it pulling away or if you were going 5-10mph.
